Riforgiate Design - Prototype Run

Yes. I heard about that but it seems like it never went anywhere. Maybe Lotaxi can make it happen.

How’s the volume to you? A few people thought it was incredibly loud.

Let me know if the package needs more. I’ve got a few hundred more pairs with me. I played around with a couple small changes to the brake pad profile, we’ll see if they fix things. For the version you’ve got, try the old school tricks. Tiny drop of lube in the bearing, chapstick on the pads or string, the usual enhancements. The choice of string seems to matter a lot more than I was expecting, too…

Get in touch with @AudreySickburn for a hookup there. I’m still working on a die to cut pads out of silicone, nitrile, and a few other rubbers, but after the first cutting die failed the second option ended up being cost prohibitive. I’ll have a chance to cut my own for way less money soon, but I’m waiting on the new W-EDM machine to come in. I’ll cut a hammer die as one of my learning projects to get up to speed and see how it goes.

It’s heavy compared to a lot of the typical responsive designs I’ve played, but I felt like adding the extra mass at the rim would keep it more functional for unresponsive play and having the option for both of those was important.

No list yet, I’ve just been letting organic interest drive stuff here. I gotta get off my butt and write up an actual, proper PiF post…

Considerably, yes. I could order a few 50Lb boxes from my typical supplier right now if I wanted, but without a specific thing to use it for I feel it’s a bit irresponsible. Bigger question is time efficiency. Orders of small chunks are very useful for tiny prototype runs, but they become very annoying if you’re trying to make a bunch of something and don’t have the right machine to cut them down to machine stock. I’m hoping we get a bandsaw with automatic feed so I can process stock a lot more quickly than I normally do. That will keep things running much more smoothly than typical and open up some purchasing options

@Knarknar was talking to me about it a bit ago. It’s definitely something I’m interested in for later. Still gotta get the Queens cut.

Speaking of, it’s material day! I was able to order some stuff already cut to stock size. This isn’t quite enough for the rest of the orders, but I’m currently waiting on another vendor to see if I can get a whole lot more at the ready-to-cut length.

I got the PiF post written

Also, I had to test out a new tool, so if there’s any interest in a different design I was able to pop out a few RippleDrops as well
