This link would suggest it was released in 2009, but I don’t recall closed posts until 2011 either.

Back in 2009, YoyoFactory released a very limited run of the 888 they coined the 888 Classic, which was basically a 1:1 to the original 2007 888, only with better machining tolerances and a closed post. It’s hard to find too much on this as this was released the same year as the 2009 888 which had higher walls, and in close proximity to the 888x, which was the most mass produced model. The machining on this is different from the 2011 888, and does not have the response bump of the 2011 model. If you have an Ocho8Ocho it’s from this same run.
This one is worth quite a bit, especially to an avid collector of 888s. The true value I am completely unsure of, as this has been one of the few times I’ve seen one pop up for resale. I think it’s something that might be worth adding to your collection if a price can be agreed upon!

I had this closed post ocho 8 ocho and I sell it many years ago for very cheap!
maybe $80 or $100, back then I think it was a cheap chinese 888 like 888x, so I did not want it lol
I will add that to my list for things I am sad for selling due to lack of knowledge,

I still think we need a true 888 lore thread, because I own many and deal with many 888, people come to me with some questions and I don’t have the resources to see information about different models/colorways/makes
I have 2 888 yoyo I don’t even know what run or year they are from! i just know it is pre 2010
