Quick discussion/comparison of modern responsive yoyos

There was a full-size version with Hubstacks released in 2022

Sounds like the next release will have Cork Pads.

You pick up the latest Turbo Grind Machine ?

That is very cool, but are there any pictures of that with items actually stacked on the hubs? I’m unclear.

They use regular stacks and A bearings

ive never out stacks on mine cuz i just haven’t gotten around to picking a kit up. curious though, how much weight does it add fully assembled if you have access to scales?

Hubstacks are less risky these days because we have far more sophisticated materials technology; it doesn’t have to be synonymous with “center weight”. We can design in more flexible ways.

They are risky in the “yyf still owns the patent and is litigious toward anyone who impedes on their IP sense” so unless your in China and can’t be pursued it’s not worth doing hubstacks “yet”

Can’t wait for that patent to expire

Well, hubstacks aren’t THAT necessary or cool anyways.. they’re sort of interesting but not essential to the yo-yo experience.. in some ways they can be annoying to play. Pros and cons, really.

Long sharp spikes, for Matador style, provide me with enough spin to scratch the itch of hubstacks.

Honestly I’ve never owned a hubstack throw before. Just never found one I was like “yes! This is the one”. Maybe if an old 888 came along to buy, I’d get one. But I’ve also heard about QC issues on newer ones. Dunno if that’s true though

This is the way.

Edit: I felt a sudden disturbance in the Farce… as if 2 or 3 voices cried out… THIS IS THE WAY… and then silence. :zipper_mouth_face:
