So I bought a yoyo at the Pacific Northwest regionals this year, and the man who sold it to me claimed it was a “display model”. So we bought it at a discount of 100 rather than 140 bucks which was a great deal because aside from a tiny scratch it was very clean, and had ZERO vibe. Now, here’s where it gets weird. The top is called the W1LD Contrast Brass PC, and I searched it up on google to see which color I had gotten. I didn’t find a single one is this specific color. Another weird coincidence is that all the colors for the different materials, (brass, aluminum, and the POM rims were in the stock, bare colors. So now I’m wondering if this yoyo is a potential prototype, or maybe the color hasn’t been released yet, OR, if it was just a mistake in the manufacturing process. Either way, I’m still stumped on WHAT this yoyo is.
its pretty common for random one-off units like that to occur with remaining parts, i’d imagine they were testing brass + POM and found it too heavy, i know there were some GPPR and other YYR throws with PC/POM options that had some mismatched rims
Thanks for the explanation!
This must be the most powerful contrast!
The web store in Japan shows that color with brass rings as does w1ld’s website
That one has clear PC, not the white POM rings, if I am looking at these right. Small difference at the end of the day, idk what the difference in materials would result in.
I believe that POM is ~15% more dense than PC. One store lists the POM Contrast at 0.5g heavier.
Correction: the 0.5g difference includes the change from SS to Brass, so the POM/PC difference is even less significant.
I read the same thing. The brass is a half gram heavier. It’s hard to tell from the op photo. It’s a beautiful yoyo. It made me go buy one
The patina on the brass ring in the OP photo is really nice.
