Creating this little snort demon was an absolute blast! Here’s a peek at some early sketch art, a bit of backstory, and a first look at the final HedStand model.
Our dear friend Jack from @dirtbag_edc approached us with the idea of a DHD twist on a Pug, which seemed like the perfect next challenge after the DedBev. We initially considered a concept involving the eerie skull of a pug, but it ended up too similar to our previous model, so we decided to move away from the zombie theme. After some brainstorming, we landed on a ravenous, frenzied pug with a wide grin revealing an array of ridiculously sharp teeth, while still showcasing the pug’s cute, buggy eyes. A few concepts later, we added an X on its forehead and gave it blank, blood-vessel-streaked eyes, making it look like something straight out of The Exorcist. Thus, our possessed pug was born, and the character came to life from there.
The first thing we really wanted to tackle was adding a leash to it with a decapitated hand attached to it. Not just a gruesome detail, but an homage to the DirtBag counterweight we did for Jack that features another decapitated hand. Is this the same one? Who knows…could be….
Another foreboding feature is the blade behind his back. Each one of our characters mischievously hides a different object or weapon. This time, we went with a giant oversized kitchen knife with the words “Good Boy” engraved on it. The blade would also help hold up the tiny-pawed character, but after some proto runs, we decided to add another fun feature: a dog toy the blade stabs through, which improves the model’s stability in the most adorable way. The DHD logo stamped on the very bottom of the toy bone is just one hidden detail. Stay tuned to discover more later this week…

Inspired by the eerie chills of Pazuzu and possession flicks, Pugzuzu is your gateway to a world where cuddly meets creepy and pets aren’t what they seem.
Mix and match this fiendishly fun character with other Dedweights and HedStandz to create scenes of pure horror and twisted delight

Happy Saturday folks! Just a quick inventory update. We are officially sold out of the Nickelodeon Pugs. Thank you to everyone that helped support this launch. This turned out to be one of our most successful runs yet for us and we couldn’t of done it without your support.
