That’s the biggest cost to me. I throw a lot of yo-yos away that could be sold as b grades, but I want them associated with G2.
Volume does help. Mostly with machining or if you use overseas ano. My anodizing doesn’t change price at all with volume.

Those $5 Fools Gold CLYW YETI 2.0s play pretty great.
It’s like if a guy lives in the backwoods and goes to car dealer and wants a 4x4 pick up but the salesperson says he has a great deal on a nearly-new Jaguar…
Well… kinda. If you shop around you can get a metal MagicYoyo N12 Shark’s Honor for under $20, heck, I bought them in bulk once (long story) and got them under $10.
Can you recycle them as Alu scrap? Do you literally mean “throw away”?
I’m not completely clear on the question. There are certainly some yoyos that play above their price point. The Aviator 2 is absolutely amazing and can be found for around $20 on the BST. The Smoothie is probably the best all-around yoyo I’ve played and it’s relatively inexpensive for a bimetal. Yoyofficer makes some great budget bimetals.
