What I’ll do is make a second list for Australia. It seems you guys are all willing to do what’s needed to make it happen so I’m fine with it. @Maelstrom @The_Throws_Of_Yo @Nic_from_Adelaide just know that me and Crocodile Dundee are mates. Any funny business and…

dreamland has arrived safely! thanks for this opportunity and ill def share once I’ve put time on it
That green proto looked so good.
well dang that went too fast! im gonna post later on about it but @NuroVolt7 dm me the stuff so we can get the ball rolling on moving it along on its journey
So I’ll be honest, when the little one arrived I was a bit disappointed. The response felt very grabby and the bearing sounded crunchy and the spin would die out after a double on trap. However, it felt super comfy and looked dope and enticing so didn’t give up. After talking with Steve i did a bit of maintenance
I of course deshielded and cleaned the bearing. I used dish soap and an electric blower as I always do. I flooded it out with about 10 drops of thin lube and played it out. Surprisingly it took very little time to play out
I also pulled the pads and put permatex gear oil rtv in. So I guess if anyone after me has been curious about but not tried permatex, this may be your shot if someone before you doesn’t pull it out and put pads back in
I left the string on it as it is virtually new. It’s a zipline zs air. I particularly like the combo feel of gear oil and thick nylon string like Execs and Zs Air
Anyway, after its little spa trip I was much more satisfied with its play. In fact, I came to like it a great deal. Very fun and quite capable. The bi metal design def let’s it overcome some shortcomings by virtue of its size and it plays as capable as a full size. I recorded a short vid that isn’t the cleanest ever but should give an idea how it plays now. Hope everyone else enjoys it as much as I did! ![]()
Thank you Thomas for the video and the maintenance.
I swear the bearing was fine when it left but I had honestly not done any maintenance since receiving it… oooops. ![]()
I will take this opportunity to ask all please not to disassemble this little guy unless there is a problem. And then please confer with me first. It has a short axle which gives me fears of stripping. Thanks to all.
Again thanks for the great video, the style of play and the music both were very fitting. ![]()
Has this moved forward?
yes its in the wild
Should be at my place tomorrow
I’d love to be on the list!
All I ask is that you please take the time to read the rules. I know sometimes it’s easier to skim through or just take the rules completely for granted. In no way am I saying you are guilty of this; in fact I know you’ve been responsible with other Play it Forwards (
) in the past. It’s more just a general reminder. I’ll get you on the list. ![]()
I thought I pasted my feedback thread like but I guess it didn’t go through! ![]()
My bad
I think I can sum up my first impressions with one sentence.
Yes, a rerun really NEEDS to happen!
Also, is the string on this a nylon poly blend? I’m liking it so far because, unlike my first experience with nylon, it doesn’t feel like a difficult to control bungee cord.
100% nylon it’s a zs air. i changed the response to gear oil permatex also. response isn’t universal but i think the gear oil and thick nylon string specific pairing feels the best and has the most universal appeal for my taste
The trick with nylon is giving it a good stretch. Jeremy at Zipline told me to twist the turds out of it and then stretch it as hard as you can… it won’t break. Then it behaves wonderfully. ![]()

And it works wonderfully well! I’m becoming convinced that the best way to bring older school specs forward, or making a small yoyo amazing is with a D bearing. I know my hot take is that organics are overrated, but I guess I should narrow that to classic organics, because my #2 fave and the one contesting for #5 are both organics, just not classic ones.
Dreamland has great bimetal power, is agile thanks to a thicker hub, and can be played at a faster speed while having good presence in play. It doesn’t feel like a feather or a loose cannon. The size and shape make both play and catch a joy. It was love at first throw.
I must restate, a rerun NEEDS to happen!
It’s a special little guy. A tad over 50% of the weight is in the rims. It was definitely a “you know on the first throw” experience for me too. It “for me” is as near perfect of an intersection of comfort and performance as you can get. While not feeling light as you say, it’s also nowhere near a brick either. I mean it performs very stably but has a soft touch doing it. It’s just fabulous in my eyes… I mean hands. ![]()
I wanted to say “solid” for playfeel, but that term is so subjective. Both Dreamland and something like YYFr Baryon are solid feeling yoyos, but as I said, Dreamland is agile, so it doesn’t feel like a brick. Baryon felt kinda like a brick because it wasn’t agile.
