If the coach is actually a knowledgeable player, and thoroughly understands the competition scene, and client wants to be more knowledgeable in that field, I could see somebody paying money for that.

Not weird per se, maybe unconventional. If both parties seem happy with it though it’s a win win.

Huh. Yeah, those arguments make sense. When you guys lay it out like that it doesn’t sound that weird.
