Sorry to be the bringer of reality, but right now we don’t have a reliable way of doing nickel plating. It adds a really thick layer so the chance of vibe goes up as well as the chance of messing up the bearing post.
yup. the realities of manufacturing. if we didn’t need to care about vibe, there is a list of cool things we could do.
cool things, cool things!
I doubt One Drop would ever do ‘cool things’ at the cost of basic yoyo functionality like ‘being able to insert & remove the bearing’. Having those floating around on the Secondary Market (oh look a colourway name) would be bad for their reputation too. Who really wants to buy a semi-functional gimmick yoyo? Maybe they don’t give us what we want but they give us what we need (ahem engravings ahem)
minor nail vibe is a far cry from basic yoyo functionality.
It’s not just minor nail vibe, the uncertainty of adding a layer onto a yoyo makes the bearing seat have difficulties fitting the bearing properly, not only inducing vibe but making it difficult or impossible to perform maintenance and creating an extremely high number of b grades where the yoyo can’t take a bearing at all
