One drop throws

Been looking at some one drops. They look really nice. Can anyone recommend a good first one drop, preferably with the side effects cuz those are neat

Get yourself a Fat Tire 20/20 if you like something a bit different. If not, a Panorama.

The #1 selling One Drop is the Terrarian so I’d say try that.

The Fat Tire 20/20 is super awesome. Reboot is definitely a pleasure. One that surprised me, and I really jive with is the Terrarrian.

I really love the Wizard. Little bit oversized which I love but it’s just a blast to play with. It’s powerful and the shape is comfy. I have: Wizard, Reboot, Topdeck, and Wyvern, and I would highly recommend any of them, but the Wizard is my favorite

Yknow i was looking at the wizard. I don’t have experience throwing the different shapes but the more organic shapes are pleasing from an aesthetic perspective. My only hesitation with that was the lack of side effects, but of all the ones recommended the wizard and panorama i think may be the top running choices so far. Budget says there can be only one though…lol

Panorama is the only OD I have but I absolutely love it. It’s slimline and high walled so does require a decently clean level of play. One of the things I really appreciate about it now tbh but if that doesn’t sound like something you want, maybe it’s not the Yoyo for you right now. Super fun Yoyo though.

Realistically if it’s between the wizard and pano I say get the wizard first then get the pano later. I love both and have multiples of both. But the wizard is more capable and fun. Don’t get me wrong I’d say the same about the pano but if ur skills aren’t quite there you’ll go farther n have more fun with wizard

As i look deeper into shapes I’m wondering if I’m getting ahead of myself with the organics. I definitely am still working on getting straight powerful throws and keeping the yoyo on plane during tricks so I’m rethinking the choices lol

I just my first two ODs a few days ago, so I don’t have a lot to compare them to within the brand. But if you like the comfort/aesthetic of organics but still need performance, I can certainly recommend the Reboot or Rebirth (depending on if you want lighter or heavier). Both are surprisingly stable and remarkably powerful/long-spinning for mid-size organics (or otherwise). Plus, they have Side Effects.

I would definitely recommend a reboot. The reboot and kamuraiju are my favourite ones that are more available right now.

Those are also pretty performative and more forgiving than a slimline like a panorama or a more organic throw like the wizard.

I’ve been wondering… from someone who has played a lot of one drops and can compare…what would you say is the most competitive Side Effect OD. I know the Top Deck is just stupid stable and long spinning. Is there a Top Dog SE model?

2016 Benchmark V or maybe Code 2

Kuntosh 5kQV, CODE 2 if you like slightly heavier yoyos, Toxic Hazmat (technically not OD), the most performant I can think of is the yoyofriends x Damien Puckett Alliance or the yoyofriends gyrfalcon prototype with side effects (also technically not OD)

i’ve been workin on one myself in the background…

definitely not a lot of truly ‘high performance’ side effect models out there sadly, especially that are from OD

I would guess something from atmos. Maybe the khuno or ari?
Onedrop isnt known for making super competitive models plus side effects require quite a lot of centre weight which most truly competitive models dont want.

Another vote for a Rebirth or Reboot

One drop hit the scene with the Project years ago, and the Rebirth/Reboot is a modern refined version that to me, would be the best introduction into what they are all about.

Thanks a lot to all for that info. I was intrigued by the Kuntosh so maybe I’ll be on the lookout for one of those.

I might be in the minority here but I prefer the Free Solo to the Top Deck. I traded my Top Deck, my Free Solo is still here. Something about its feel, but that’s just my anecdotal evidence.

Also there is an appreciable difference between the regular and 5kqv Kuntosh. My pink Kuntosh is my baby, but the racing red 5kqv I have is my top dog for SE throws. I’m currently sporting ti kisses in mine.
