When one drop nickel plates their yoyo’s does it make it more impact resistant than the normal aluminum? Or is it solely for looks?
Yes it is a harder and more durable coating.
Electroless Nickle Plating builds up about .0005 to .001 of an inch on the surface. Depends on how long it is in the tank. It makes it look nice and also adds a bit of abrasion resistance to the material. If you hit a corner of the yoyo it will still deform the base material.
I figured it was more ding resistant than regular aluminum. But obviously not ding proof.
