There is a history of making fun of the speech of immigrant groups in the US, one that has been used to assert that people of particular backgrounds are inferior, less human, etc. “Ching chong” and “spic” are examples. It has also in some instances been accompanied by violence, as was the case with the 3 men who jumped my father in 1994 and repeatedly yelled at him “Do you spic English, wetback? Can you spic English, wetback?” as they kicked in him the head a few dozen times before leaving him for dead in a parking lot. This sort of mockery has no place in a civil society and is degrading and hurtful. Think about it.
