My Collection Journey

Hey there! Since some people seemed to be interested in following how my collection is going, so I thought I might start posting about it here from time to time.

Dear Diary,

I met this beauty yesterday.

She says she’s a ‘citizen’, but didn’t say of what country? (I think she might be an illegal immigrant.) I like to focus on what matters though: she carves through the air like glass—agile, yet light enough to float ever so slightly. Her wing shape is reminiscent of the Terrarian in the hand, but smoother… more powerful. She told me today that we can go at any speed I like. I think this is the beginning of something serious. I’m already hearing bells when I accidentally brush her with my fingernail. You can’t stop the power of Love™!

Yesterday I also made an… acquaintance.

They’re um… a bit two-faced I guess? Or… more like they have two different personalities at once? But they’re pleasant enough. They remind me of someone nice I know who I have been meaning to catch up with for a while now. Perhaps me and them will manage to become friends yet. That reminds me, I should really call that friend soon. It’s been months since I’ve seen their Face…

I want to thank @Zeek95 for these (and a few other) recent additions to my collection. They’re definitely a solid seller. I want to highlight this excellent packaging:

This method of separation to absorb shockwaves is also used in acoustics to create noise-isolated spaces, like recording booths. When I saw the use of this principle, I nearly taped the box closed again and kicked it across the room just to demonstrate its effectiveness. However, that would be tempting Fate, and Fate likes to invoke Murphy’s Law when tempted. Not sure who this Murphy guy was, but he must’ve been pretty miserly to give Fate such a powerful tool—so powerful that it can overcome basic acoustic principles! Terrifying.

Ok your new ‘friend’ is cool and all, but don’t you think she’s trying to spin between us?

She told me not to breakaway from you. It’s a trapeze act because if I two-timed you then it’d be double or nothing; and that’s straight-up suicide!

Dear Diary,

The sky has gone dark, and the dirt has turned to mud. My friends don’t come outside the play with me anymore, so I’ve resigned myself to my new life indoors. They tell me it’s ‘normal’. Nobody remembers the old times anymore! Those beautiful old times, when I used to dream of being a lizard, bathing in the sun. The birds would sing happy songs, or sad songs, and I’d listen to every word. Back when I would stand outside for hours until the radiation blistered my skin—those were the days. I’ll make lots of new friends when the sun comes back. I just know it…

Yesterday I decided to sort through all of my Side Effects to see if any were unaccounted for in my records. I came up with these at first.

I rummaged through some old photos, and eventually realised that the Spikes were from my 54. I swapped them out for a set of Clear Domes ages ago, but that begs the question: where did I get those Domes from? I can’t remember.

The Black and Clear Flat Caps were almost certainly from One Drop. In the old photos I also saw a set of Clear Legos that I didn’t have written down anywhere. I wondered if I had given them away at first, but I actually found them while putting all of the Side Effects away again. Needless to say, I think I need to go through them all again since I clearly made a few errors while sorting.

As for those Brass Flat Caps… I can’t remember anything about them at all. I also have a set of Brass Legos in my Benchmark 2016 V that I can’t recall the origin of. If you sent me those, please let me know, haha.

After that, it was time to rearrange my accessory storage.

I used to have more space allocated for strings, but I decided that I needed to make more room for Side Effects; since my supply of them only ever increases.

I started by sectioning off the frail Project and MarkMont Next boxes that I keep here for preservation. My initial plan was to put the Side Effects on the right, behind the big white box.

Unfortunately, the space was too narrow. Not only was it about the same size as my previous storage space, it also didn’t allow me to see any of the Side Effects themselves. Only a bunch of plastic bags. Back to the drawing board.

After some experimentation I got to this point:

I originally installed the central divider because I planned to place the Side Effects right next to the fragile boxes, possibly damaging them. But now that the Side Effects are in another compartment, I can remove the divider to possibly reclaim some space.

Here’s what that looks like:

Done for now, but the coast is always changing, so who knows how many more times I will rearrange all of this.

Also, I have like a million paragraphs of trade feedback that I’ve been meaning to write, but I was struggling to give people constructive criticism without sounding too negative; so I came up with a sort of ‘rating/review system’ to make it easier for myself. Hopefully people will be pleased with the result and feel like I’m able to give them some helpful (or at least honest!) feedback.
