So I’m a bit torn…
lol I feel like I’m legit 3 or 4 weeks behind on things. I’m just now starting to get Kamikaze and Mexican Duck Pond more consistent and am still trying to smooth out Superflow.
Meanwhile I still haven’t spent much time with the Sub Mount and working on my own speed combo.
On one hand…I’m okay with this. I feel like I am making progress and for that I’m proud. Kamikaze was once the bane of my existence, I’m nailing Duck Pond more consistently with each day I work on it and I just absolutely feel more skilled now then I did 6 weeks ago before this challenge started.
Plus I really am having a lot of fun.
On the other hand…I feel a bit down on myself for not progressing as quickly as it seems some of you are. lol I know I shouldn’t compare myself to others…but dang it’s hard not to! >.<’
I also feel a sense of dread from the idea that I wont be able to keep up with @MoonageMin to be able to provide him with some friendly challenge and competition. Like it’s easier for me to see him and everyone else progressing because it sets a bar for me to reach for…gives me inspiration. But when Moon has to consistently lead the pack…it’s like he doesn’t have anyone ahead of him to guide and inspire him. Does that make sense? I’m afraid I wont be able to keep up and that he’s going to lose out on having some healthy competition because of it. I’d hate to hinder his progress.
I’m just thinking out loud.
I’m not sad or depressed or anything haha…I’m just concerned.
Man, sad to hear that you’re concerned of not progressing fast enough. I can tell you that I have learned some crazy inverted Brent stole entrances and I still not able to do boingy bong or the magic drop, so if one trick is driving you crazy just jump to the next one and you will maybe learn something that will help you with your “daemon” trick. Anyway, in general what I suggest you is to practice the specific part that you feel difficult again and again and again and again by itself, and then attach it to the rest of the trick. Now, what part of smoothie is difficult to you?
Hey man everyone progress at different pace and everyone has different amount of time available to practice.
Also, did you think you would keep up with me
/jk
I think your motivation has been high throughout and you have been better every week than you started the week with. That to me means you are on track with the challenge.
The challenge wasn’t meant to be you become a master of a trick after a week, it is you start learning at least 1 new trick a week.
haha…honestly, no!
Ever since you started to work on the ladder for the comp it became very clear very early on how much of a beast you are!
Your enthusiasm, dedication, and progress was hella inspiring then…and absolutely still is!
I’m not even envious of you (okay maybe a little! haha )…I’m more proud of you than anything. I’ve had SO much fun since you’ve been around and I LOVE seeing you progress!!
The only thing that bugs me, is I wish I could be more of a friendly challenge for you…lol I’m spoiled by you and a bunch of others here because you guys are ahead of me skill wise…which helps to fuel my drive to push forward and to get better.
I wish I could be that for you.
Does that make sense?
totally makes sense, but I don’t really see myself as competing as anyone.
This is not because I’m bad or good, better or worse than anyone, my only competition right now until I get better is against an image of myself and where I want to see myself get to.
Nice. Gettin there. The last mount was weird for a while for me, but just make sure the first string is at the base of your non throw hand. What helps me is I point my non throw hand finger outward to keep the string in the back while I do the “rejection” part.
The last mount for bind challenged me a lot too. Keep the internal string close to the base of the finger so you have enough space to let the yoyo catch the other string. Once you are in the undermount-ish, let go the loop with the throwhand and do the second roll with the yoyo, then bind. I was struggling because I was doing two rolls and then let go the string, this was somehow creating two loops in the undermount and locking the yoyo.
Hope I was clear, sorry for my bad English.
Don’t worry - he still has to catch up to me
And don’t get down on yourself about your progress. I almost didn’t want to do this challenge, because I feel like I’m setting unrealistic expectations for you newer folks. That first year of foundational knowledge and muscle memory truly makes a big difference when learning new stuff, so I’ve been able to pick these tricks up fairly easily. I also have a lot of time to practice - most days I yoyo for multiple hours over the course of the day. I also don’t record “progress” videos like you guys do, so you only see my finished product, which also probably doesn’t help. Next trick I’ll record my learning process as well so you can see me mess up repeatedly lol.
I’m so glad you’ve joined in! I love watching your vids! haha you’re such a bad ***!
I can’t speak for others…but you don’t scare me away…you inspire me!
It’s one of those things that I know if we stick with it and put in enough practice…we all can become as skilled as those ahead of us.
You show me where I can be as long as I push through!
