In Iceland with Nonotak
Kentaro introduced the “lip” in yoyo catch zone design. The ratio of metal flat ring to yoyo scale by Dave Buzzon on the DV8. SPR again by Buzzon. Silicone groove being used with pads. Side Effects for extended yoyo lifeline and modification.
In a perfect world, there is a larger spread of competition types that break away from the current standard. Would like to see more cross-skilltoy events start to pop up. I think seeing themed competitions or competitions with hardcore limitations, like responsive plastic only, would also be great.
That’s a tough one, but a few that come to mind are the nickel Kuntosh, One Drop Gauntlet v1 and 2, a few more One Drops and some OYY I can’t recall name’s of at the moment. Spinworthy makes some awesome stuff as well.
I’d say the difference in Markmont. yoyos is that they all follow thematical play characteristics and design nuances across all models, that make for a full comprehensive collection of a “type”. The entire collection/line acts as a literal trove of how myself in collaboration with One Drop, approach yoyo design. Its a reflection and distillment of what I value in yoyo design and performance. If you like any of the Markmont. yoyos, then you’ll likely like something about them all. There aren’t many yoyo lines that include models in an ingoing time range of 2007 forward.
Don’t forget about the markmont mini!! Still hoping to see it come to fruition one day!! And for sure it’ll be a banger there’s so many other mini organics out there now that show this type of thing can be done well. But there’s none with side effects!
YES I CAN ACTUALLY.
The first :05 seconds of my 2003 AP Worlds routine I made a trick flub on trick ONE and had to figure out how to play it off smooth enough, to still give me any type of running shot for the title. I had a general backup plan to voice “DANGER!” if I messed up, but it was literally a one time use type of tactic lol. So after I exhausted my 1 extra life so to speak, I had to just REALLY focus
The moral of the story is, always keep it calm while people are watching. You can freak out on the inside, but breath and ACT smooth
Thanks for the reminder. We gon’ just have to SEE what we see
Too hard to just pick “one”, but I’ve been very much into a genre called Float House for a while now.
