The Sengoku Lotus is back at YoYoExpert in three incredible new colors—Black, Aqua/Yellow Fade, and a breathtaking Multicolored Acid Wash!
With its iconic perforated design and a body split into four interconnected “petals,” the Lotus defies expectations. Its wild shape seems almost impossible, evoking a sense of disbelief that it should even work, but wow does it!
The Lotus’s design not only looks stunning but also offers a unique throwing experience. Each yo-yo has been meticulously opened and tweaked, with shims added until the gaps are perfectly aligned, making it a true finished functional piece of art. While it is safer than previous models like the Hanzo and Hattori, it still requires careful handling. Tricks such as rejection or sidewinder-type tricks, where the string touches the body vertically, may result in the string catching on the body, leading to a sudden stop. Therefore, while it can ride on or slide along the string without issue, controlling it at an angle needs caution.
I don’t have a video of it, but you CAN finger spin with it. Since I don’t listen to warnings I gave it a shot when I got it. I actually found it better to try and catch it slightly off-center, and with the inside/skin of your finger instead of the tip or nail because it gives a little more gap coverage, but will still bump around a little. The string also likes to get caught in the grooves if you’re not careful and shoot back at you potentially.
The Hanzo on the other hand is a totally different story, haha.
Finger grinds are also a little bumpy and weird feeling, but it’s all totally possible.
