The yoyofriends Light-Up Rio returns in limited quantities! The light-up version features integrated LED circuitry that activates with a magnet, adding an entirely new dimension to your tricks.
The Rio is Yoyofriends’ answer to the ultimate machined plastic yo-yo. After the retirement of the Dove, there was a gap in their lineup for a high-performance plastic throw. While the AoE was a step forward, its injection-molded design leaned toward beginner to intermediate play. The Rio takes things to the next level with precision-machined polycarbonate, offering a durable and cost-effective alternative to Delrin while maintaining a smooth, refined feel close to that of a monometal.
Very tempted to pick up the other color. Rio is one of the best performing plastic yoyos around and the LED arrays don’t negatively impact the LED version.
The pads are indeed a little slippery, hard to get tight binds on it.
The yellow LED takes some time to reach full brightness on mine. I keep yellow and blue solid, red flashing, since the red is much more intense. Think I’ll swap some LEDs around. There’s a pulsing mode where it can look faint, make sure the light is completely off when storing/putting away.
If you want to replace batteries, they are AG1/LR621.
Just swapped out the batteries in my red LEDs and they are outshining all the others now lol, gotta do the rest.
Thank you so much for the tip, I thought I had to buy modules and I was bummed it died out so quickly! Awesome!!
Used the corkscrew on my Swiss Army knife to pop the lil caps off and then gently knocked the YoYo to slide the modules out, and slid the lil batteries out (CAUTION: THESE ARE LETHAL TO SMALL CHILDREN, DO NOT DROP THEM OR SET THEM ASIDE. THROW AWAY IMMEDIATELY)
simple as sliding in the new pair and gently pressing the module in and then the little cap. Good as new!
this is tru but name brand like Duracell and energizer have a coating that tastes terrible similar to switch game cartridges to hopefully prevent this. No idea on off brands and such
