Sorry Starfleet corporate says all weapon systems must be refactored per SVP Locutus.
Hereās a waste of water for you. We had a āGroup AI Sessionā at work yesterday, and were asked to have Gemini create somethingā¦like I donāt already use AI on daily basis nowā¦
I asked Gemini something pretty mundane and right off the bat it complimented me for my choice of operating system and the tone of voice it used was like one an enthusiastic colleague would use. I know full well that LLMs are merely filling in the gaps but itās so sycophantic. No wonder people get completely hooked on these things, they tell you the thing you most want to hear at all times. I think that this is dangerous.
At work I set rules to make responses as terse and short as possible. Uses less tokens that way ![]()
Of course itās dangerous, because people think itās āintelligentāāthey trust it as if itās infallible. Itās the ultimate advertising platform. Itās what the newspapers and news stations have always wanted to be. Itās the social media echo-chamber on crack. Itās could even be a swooning admirer that wonāt make you deal with messy things like āconsentā. Itās all you want and itās here right now and itāll never give you up or let you down or run around and desert you. Well, okay itāll run around a little bit⦠a little bit more than the average human is capable of⦠ācāmon, it was only a few million other people I was talking to calm down
ā
The whole infallible stating guesses as facts thing makes me livid all the time.
Hey code bot the fix didnāt work.
Code bot: well it just hasnāt made it through the pipeline.
Me: here is proof it made it through the pipeline.
Code bot: no it definitely didnāt make it through.
I have to set layers of rules and stuff to try to force it to only state something as a fact if it has reproducible proof of a fact. Only works like 20% of the time.
On a positive note; this exchange shows that AI is making great strides as a surrogate-companion. It already knows how to argue every point; and push your buttons. Just like a real-life partner.
āArtificial Intelligence: now as delusional as real people!ā
Why did we spend so much money on thisā¦
My ai around 4:00 every day now starts deflecting. It will say stuff like, this looks like a lot of work letās pick this up tomorrow. Once even ālet me think about this overnight and pick it up in the morningā it doesnāt get tired and it sure wonāt think about it overnight when I close my laptop but that is some weird human deflection happening.
On the plus side I changed its icon to Clippy and it detected it and said āit looks like you are trying to deploy to production, would you like help with that?ā And that made me laugh hysterically.
I get so much more work done now. Itās like wow Sisyphus can roll so many more boulders uphill forever thanks to AI. Iām rolling at least 6-8 boulders perpetually uphill. No way this is going to lead to burnout.
Iām just watching as my job becomes more and more ācaptureā focused because my actual job is slowly being replaced by AI and if I donāt pivot I wonāt have a job by the end of the yearā¦
Work is now instructing a swarm of AI to do things. All work is abstracted. Not a single thing is done directly any longer. Itās not very satisfying and it allows for much more to get done completely at the expense of all grey matter.
Is lumberjacking going to be taken over by AIās I donāt think so. Okay I see now the issue. If I have to try thinking of specific jobs that wonāt be taken over by AI.. then ya, weāre so screwed ![]()
I spend most of my day āprogrammingā in english now, then am just reviewing code to push.
Iām trying to hold the fort for as long as i can
also surely nothing can go wrong if nobody understands the code and the agents canāt understand it either
I had to prove Iām human and not AI today. That was fun.
