Sorry Starfleet corporate says all weapon systems must be refactored per SVP Locutus.
Hereâs a waste of water for you. We had a âGroup AI Sessionâ at work yesterday, and were asked to have Gemini create somethingâŚlike I donât already use AI on daily basis nowâŚ
I asked Gemini something pretty mundane and right off the bat it complimented me for my choice of operating system and the tone of voice it used was like one an enthusiastic colleague would use. I know full well that LLMs are merely filling in the gaps but itâs so sycophantic. No wonder people get completely hooked on these things, they tell you the thing you most want to hear at all times. I think that this is dangerous.
At work I set rules to make responses as terse and short as possible. Uses less tokens that way ![]()
Of course itâs dangerous, because people think itâs âintelligentââthey trust it as if itâs infallible. Itâs the ultimate advertising platform. Itâs what the newspapers and news stations have always wanted to be. Itâs the social media echo-chamber on crack. Itâs could even be a swooning admirer that wonât make you deal with messy things like âconsentâ. Itâs all you want and itâs here right now and itâll never give you up or let you down or run around and desert you. Well, okay itâll run around a little bit⌠a little bit more than the average human is capable of⌠âcâmon, it was only a few million other people I was talking to calm down
â
The whole infallible stating guesses as facts thing makes me livid all the time.
Hey code bot the fix didnât work.
Code bot: well it just hasnât made it through the pipeline.
Me: here is proof it made it through the pipeline.
Code bot: no it definitely didnât make it through.
I have to set layers of rules and stuff to try to force it to only state something as a fact if it has reproducible proof of a fact. Only works like 20% of the time.
On a positive note; this exchange shows that AI is making great strides as a surrogate-companion. It already knows how to argue every point; and push your buttons. Just like a real-life partner.
âArtificial Intelligence: now as delusional as real people!â
Why did we spend so much money on thisâŚ
My ai around 4:00 every day now starts deflecting. It will say stuff like, this looks like a lot of work letâs pick this up tomorrow. Once even âlet me think about this overnight and pick it up in the morningâ it doesnât get tired and it sure wonât think about it overnight when I close my laptop but that is some weird human deflection happening.
On the plus side I changed its icon to Clippy and it detected it and said âit looks like you are trying to deploy to production, would you like help with that?â And that made me laugh hysterically.
