I was putting some time in with it again last night, it’s so good, haha. Especially with the mid-school responsive play. Can’t wait to try out the V2 and crossing my fingers others will love it just as much.

I can’t find a way to incorporate Hippo Nippos into my tricks but that’s just a personal limitation, but they sure do make me smile when I look at them, and you can’t put a price on a smile

Plumpy V2 Testing!
We’ve arrived, case closed, pack it up, this is it!
When @AudreySickburn at Return Bottoms dropped the V1 prototype in my lap, they practically nailed my dream on the first try. But V2 is where the slight fine-tuned mad scientist magic really happened.
I wanted a yoyo that didn’t really exist in the current marketplace (or even much in the past). As an old-head who loves oversized, bubbly, schoolyard-legend throws, and who occasionally likes to dabble in unresponsive play, I wanted something that bridged all that together in a single package.
The primary goal was a big ol’ chunker of a responsive throw that was built around performing on a full-sized, lubed-up C-bearing. We weren’t talking slender Modern Responsive stuff here, but Chunky, Plumpy, and Unapologetic. That said, I also wanted something where I could throw in a dry bearing on a whim and throw some unresponsive play in the mix as well.
As a lover of classic response, I wanted it just loose enough for flowy play, but snappy when you need it. If you’re going the unresponsive route, fair warning, she’s got a little bite out of the box! Give the pads a tiny bit of break-in time, or run a thinner string. If you’re impatient, you can always go full vintage and pull a pad, though personally, both pads with a standard string after some break-in was the absolute sweet spot for me. We intentionally kept the gap tight because loosening it further would’ve compromised the responsive play, and responsive was the main quest-line.

What’s new for V2?
I absolutely haven’t been able to put this thing down. For V2, we shaved a little mass off the walls and shifted it straight to some nice, fat lips (I love a good IGR, and yes, thumb grinds are still cool!). That weight redistribution gave it a noticeable boost in power, stability, and spin time.
She’s a biggun, ESPECIALLY for a responsive. 58mm D x 48.25mm W x 69g (giggity).
Despite those beefy specs, it doesn’t play heavy at all! In fact, our proto testers refused to believe it at first. I even played a little Modern Responsive on a special edition golden version that accidentally came out to 90g (included in the video)!
And don’t worry, the Hippo Nippos are still fully prominent, and the walls are still more than thick enough to handle bumps and bruises along the way.
If you want a beefy, oversized responsive the likes of which you haven’t seen before, that’s still unresponsive capable as well, then “Let’s Get Plumpy!”

Profits for this design will support the Dogs for Better Lives (DBL) organization.
They rescue dogs from shelters and train them to be Hearing Assistance, Autism Support, Facility dogs, etc. Giving them a special education, then placing them for adoption into a home where they become a life-saving partner.
This is an excellent organization, because not only are they saving animals, but it roughly costs tens of thousands of dollars to train and place just one service dog, and they help provide these animals to those in need free-of-charge. Additionally, 100% of public donations go directly to their programs.
Quick Note: Apologies for some of the extreme close-ups, it was 97°F with a real-feel of 110°F, so I was constantly fighting the sun.

I hope you make enough that everybody can get a chance to get one cuz it sucks when you want to buy something and there’s only 10 made and then so many people are left out. That’s what happened with the blumi there’s only 40 40 and there’s so many people got left out. That’s the one thing I don’t like about these limited runs. It should be fair that everybody should be able to get something

Run sizes are complicated because demand is difficult to predict. I made 40 Acorn Mini, almost a month later I’ve sold 16. I made 48 Demons Fun and six months later have sold 40. Where Blumi sold 40 in an afternoon.
But that being said, you can call it hubris but I’m making 200 Plumpy. 100 will be getting a special anodization and up for sale first. The other 100 will be getting weird. Some will go to get cerakote. A small handful I am considering dumb stuff like truck bed liner coating (masked off the seat and catch zone). Etc. some may just go to other anodizers to experiment and see what folks can do.

Do you know maybe a rough idea what prices are going to be or is it still just too early. The hopefully the anodizing is cool. It’s so hard to find yo-yos that have really cool anodizing. I love the non-basic, no worries there, haha. I’ve put a challenge out there for Andy and we’re trying to see what options we have there, but it should be fun!

Price it’s a little too early but aiming for budget friendly territory. I can’t determine the price yet because these are being manufactured raw and sent to me and then if all goes well I’m driving them down to an anodizer that does incredible work. The anodizer is getting a prototype mailed to them for experimentation while the run gets made.

I don’t know. Maybe this is just me but I look at all these yo-yos and they have cool names but no cool themes or designs to go with them.
The one thing that I’ve noticed and this is just me though is every yoyo kind of looks the same most have the same design. Most have the same colors. It’s just become kind of boring. Like you look at a yoyo and it’s got a cool name but it’s just a solid color. Doesn’t make sense to me.
Where you look at most yo-yos and they’re either one solid color or they have a couple streaks in them or they’re blotchy or dots. If I had the money I would love to do a cool yoyo like a cool name and put like a really funky design on it that like went with the name.
I do like the Halloween ones that you can find I think the Halloween yo-yos have decently cool designs.
