Let’s talk Cerakote!

Suggestion: Start a “multiple answers accepted” poll listing the designs you can/could/would make and add the most requested ones to your production calendar (this is about designs generally, I’m interested in cerakote to try at some point, but there are a few OD designs I’d definitely pick up if they became available).

I’m all for a survey, or a pre-order. Or a Cerakote of the month club. Take my money!

*cough Rev 1 re-release would be pretty dope… It’s my favorite next to Diorama/Panorama.

I bought one of the grays that was released recently and I really like it. Really glad to see OD making some of these older designs available.

I’ve been waiting for a Free Solo since I don’t have one and you all rave about it, and a Thorn cuz if you know me on here you know I love that thing lol, but imma try for that Sugar Glider today why not.

I wonder how well cerakote would work on those Thorn spikes.

Good question, haven’t noticed any wear on the tips or around em on the Pyramatte but might be a lot different with the Cerakote, and to apply it

I’m not gonna lie I thought those would go quicker and I wouldn’t get one even if I tried, so when I saw them still available I got cold feet, calling my own bluff here lmao. I’ll just keep waiting for a
Free Solo/Thorn/Panorama etc. I just feel like the LT is next though lol

Surprising… one hour in and you can still get one.

What better yoyo to get this kind of finish than the Sugar Glider! Looks like a nice chunk of SUGAR. I copped one and cant wait to finally feel this finish.

If the matte white feels like the neon green then it’s gonna be amazing on the Sugar Glider!

Anybody else absolutely loving these matte Cerakote’s!!!

I think the green is my favorite feeling finish that I’ve every tried. Like a real chalky blast, but even better. I feel like the sting contact with the finish on the throw can be felt and adds an extra level of control and initial power. The red pads, flat bearing, and chalky finish is perfect on the Wyvern and is in the top 3 best performing One Drops ever I’d say.

Put 2 Diif-E-Yo shims in the deep state, changed to centering bearing, and heavily recessed one pad. With the brass domes it’s a little unresponsive masterpiece. Never thought I’d be doing palm grinds and fingerspins on the deepstate!

The matte white is also very very nice. Extremely smooth and slick feeling, but not sticky. Almost like a Teflon pan or something. With the red pads, flat bearing and the slick finish binds were too slippy for my liking. I changed the bearing to a G2 centering bearing with the groove and like magic the binds tightened up. Counterintuitive to me that a centering bearing would make binds snappier, but I guess it pushes more string towards the pads during a bind.

agreed in full on the feeling of the white, it really took me by surprise how good it feels. also been having slippy binds, im glad its not just me lol

Dammit I thought the white and green would be the same feeling. Now I regret not hopping on the white.

It’s true the different colors have different finishes. We prefer and are always trying to do the more chalky matte style but we don’t want to be limited by that so some won’t be quite as chalky. We’ll probably avoid the more glossy finishes.

When will will see Cerakote GZR? Maybe a nostalgic run of 54’s?

Kudos for bringing something new and exciting to your lineup.

It might be possible to do something similar, but it wouldn’t be smooth. As it is we have to go really light on the coating to keep them reasonably smooth. That’s the hardest part of this - it’s hard to make smooth yoyos normally and adding a hand sprayed coat of on them makes it that much harder.

There are even certain models that we won’t be able to cerakote because their physical characteristics make them harder to make smooth.
