I didn’t create this trick. Props to either @Yodaddyo or one of the other legends for that. Props also to @Adrielecc for mentioning the trick to me for the first time and giving me pointers (keep them fingers spread.)
Finally landed it this morning. Seth posted his on his various platforms a few hours prior (including a bonus of doing it on bro stall, unbelievably steezy.). Speaking of Seth, he has been helping a ton of us grow with his new Patreon (go to Patreon and search yodaddyo to find it.)
Would love to see others land this and post it, took me many hours but it’s totally doable. Kotn/Nectar string helps by keeping the loops and tension right if you are using wood. For modern responsive Canopy Rope holds the loops really good too. I’m sure there are others but those are the ones that I have tried that work best.
This is a fun one. We did this at worlds one year and I think as part of our Fixed Axle Feb contest one year (though maybe I’m wrong about that). I contend that the ideal way to do it is index-index-ring-middle-thumb-pinky because ring is hardest for me to catch (so do it early) and pinky is hardest to throw off (so do it last).
I take no credit for the 5 finger kickflip. I remember @Overtinkering and some others doing it awhile back. I can’t remember who started it, but I have to imagine it’s been a thing as long as kickflips have.
I gotta ask Drew about when it was first a thing. It’s the kinda thing that gets picked up whenever there is a wave of people supporting each other and getting good at fixed/responsive (which is SO AWESOME). I get the 5 finger thing confused w the consecutive kickflips thing (which is also hard as the string keeps getting longer), but they have both come up a few times and they are just as cool, impressive, and humbling each time.
Just one of those things where it’s SO amazing to see friends throwing and inspiring each other and taking the skill level to a different echelon in the name of fun. Another reminder that the throwing is always bigger and radder than any one of us.
