Hub to recess depth

do manufacturers consider hub to recess depth when designing their yoyos? meaning, is there a minimal depth that you adhere to for dif-ferent materials?

when i see a hub pop off a yoyo half, it could be for a multitude of reasons. one of them bein’ - maybe the manufacturer didn’t consider hub to recess depth in relation to the tolerances of the yoyo?

in my uninformed opinion, i think that there should be a depth standard. and it should be listed as a spec. with the yoyo. havin’ a hub pop off due to lack of design/engineering consideration/education - is amateur’s hour imho.

Depends on the material. Most (hopefully all) designers account for it, but it depends on how much weight you want pushed to the rims. If the design is more extreme for.competiton, you’d want as little as possible mass in the center, which is why this happens sometimes.
