Don’t argue with your parents but reject their comments with hate to inspire you to get better at throwing and performing tricks. Start showing your skills to other people an letting your parents see other people don’t see things as stupid but entertaining and active. Show your parents the business and engineering side of things. What got me into yoyoing was my childhood years but I became more active in yoyoing as a adult seeing the evolving world it has become. Just because your parents call something stupid doesn’t mean it’s really stupid but their thinking about something is very lacking.
Actually, my parents have been quite supportive with this hobby, just reminding me to keep spending on a very tight leash
y spend big time convincing ppl when can spend big time throwing?
h8rs gnna h8. Let ‘em
I really like the physics aspect. Centrifugal motions, circles spinning on circles, twirled in a circle. ![]()
Another serious benefit is physical therapy! For real. Years ago I had an injury to my Brakea…breacke.. breakalys.. forearm. Small deft exercises such as yo-yoing or crocheting (you’ll sometimes see nfl guys doing it) can really assist in the healing process. Not to mention the added benefits for your hand eye coordination. Small hand motion exercises have proven a benefit to athletes everywhere.
Another positive I’ve noticed, I can’t really throw, and stay mad. This is probably personal, but an amazing benefit nonetheless. I’m a guitar player, and jamming is the only other activity I’ve found that compares with throwing in that regard. It just requires all my concentration in that moment, both right and left brain.
Just a few reasons.
I’d like to preface this by saying I haven’t read every remark. So if anyone was talking about those close to them… know that I am not making this response in reply to you so as to be aiming towards your loved ones. No… this is just a statement in general that I feel applies here in at least a 50% capacity.
I’ve found that stupid people lack the intelligence to be swayed by reason… so I quit trying. ![]()
