True about deadlines and the money. However, we should all try to remember, you can’t lose what you don’t have. You don’t have the $200 prize, so, it is only possible for you to win it. Yes, that is sort of psychological mumbo-jumbo, but, it does speak to the fact that a person is less likely to take a chance if that person is afraid of a negative outcome.

Yes, a bad first impression stinks, but, you are more than a yoyo player. Plenty of actors had bad first performances. Plenty of professional athletes had abysmal first games.
