The Monkeyfinger figure 8 is kinda weird-looking with that slack at the end
I do it like once but it’s easier to do like a trapeze figure 8 motion and then transition on to the one and a half mount.
Also, practicing figure 8 horizontally is pretty easy- that’s how I learned it.

In my electric bologna tutorial, I teach the figure 8 first.
It’s done on a head cam. Should work well for ya!
