um… are u supposed to lube FHZ bearings?
i dropped a bit of YYJ thin lube in, and it rusted O.o
Well I don’t think that your bearing will rust just because you put YYJ thin lube in it. I’ve lubed hundreds of bearings. Probably more than 50 duncan bearings the same way with no rust. Maybe you did someting else or someone swapped the lube for water. :o
I think it is true. After I bought my sister a Duncan Flying Squirrel, she did not play with it for a few weeks. When I opened it, I saw that black stuff had accumulated on the bearing. It was still there after I cleaned it. I am not sure if it is rust, but I am quite sure that his bearing had the same black stuff on it.
I don’t think of the black stuff on the bearing face as rust. More like a discoloration. I normally think of rust as the reddish orange crap that will ruin your bearing. That discoloration is normal with steel bearings. All of mine are that way and spin like a champ. No need to worry. Just lube it lightly and everything will be fine.
