Fewandfarbetween giveaway results

I hope we can have an open discussion about this.

Before you go and call me salty or whatever for not winning, hear me out… im really not. I’m pretty sure everyone goes Into giveaways expecting not to win but it would be cool if it happens.

fewandfarbetween is a new company who just came out with their first yoyo. they had a giveaway on IG of a prototype. super cool.

after I entered I was curious and was reading the comments. this is what I found, and found it a curious interaction. took a Screencast because I had a feeling this was the person who was gonna win. And that person did end up winning! (congrats to that person!)

went back after and saw their comment had been deleted… super sus
now it’s entirely possible that this person did get randomly selected like they said they were going to do. but the odds and the circumstance. plus they didn’t do it live or show a video or anything. so it just leads me to believe the giveaway was rigged.
I also don’t blame the winner, if the tables were turned I would do the same!
again, I’m not salty that I did not win, “but this just leaves a bad taste in my mouth”. I have more thoughts on the matter but just seeing how some of you feel ?

Yeah, in the terms and conditions did it say friends or families and employees of few and far between are not eligible for entry.
Probably not.
This sucks balls mate.
Transparency of the draw would leave a less salty flavour in the mouth. But it also may just be coincidence.
Best thing to do is follow the herd, build an influential insta account and get free yo-yos sent to you for promos.
You can skip the random free draw then
Whatever anyone says here won’t placate the situation but time will heal dude.

Ps, welcome along!

So to answer your question this was not rigged at all. We counted all the comments and did a random number generator and it landed on him. We commented that because we do love his pictures and we were going to see if he was interested in a B-Grade so that he could take some pictures of it. We see how it could look like we picked him but it was merely a coincidence. On the other hand, this won’t be our only giveaway. We try to have as much community interaction as possible. We wish that everyone could win, but unfortunately that’s not the case. Again, we do not know him at all and he was chosen at random. Next time we will show a video or do a live video. This is the first time we do a giveaway. Hope this clarifies some things and if you have any other questions or concerns feel free to reach out to us. Thank you!

I’m really curious/don’t understand what made you screenshot the comment in the first place… what was so suspicious about the comment that you screencapped it? @aqzd

then why delete your comment?

because it was super vague and particular given the circumstances.

This seems like a lot of bluster for someone who isn’t “salty.”

The yoyo was their property. They didn’t charge anything for access to the giveaway. No contracts were signed. Nothing was lost by any of the giveaway entrants.

There’s no actual evidence of wrongdoing in either case anyway.

What exactly is your goal with this forum thread, anyway?

it seemed dishonest and opportunistic to me.

They’ve explained the issue.
Unless you have some other evidence of there being any actual wrongdoing, this feels a lot like slander.

For clarification:
I have no association with the company.
I’ve never even bought anything from them.
And I entered the giveaway, too.

I believe the company, that it was a mere coincidence but the deleted comments are a lil sus

Thanks @djinni_cake. We are also trying to figure out what we have done wrong. For our next giveaway, we will be more transparent and document the drawing. It was our first time and we didn’t think it would be a big deal if we just chose the winner, but I guess in some eyes it is. We apologize for this.

Yea, I agree with that.
It’s usually in one’s best interests to avoid even the appearance of impropriety.
But we’re all only human.

Huh? How can something be vague and particular at the same time?

I’m genuinely just trying to understand what made you think that comment was suspicious enough to screenshot it. It seems there literally isn’t a sensible explanation or basis you have for a pretty big accusation like this. If you could explain in a clear manner your line of thought, I’m willing to listen but otherwise these are just pretty baseless claims that have the potential to hurt a company, especially one that is still just starting out.

But the company responding quickly also leads me to believe that they having nothing to hide and did nothing wrong but delete those comments

I think I understand his point. It could look like they set up a giveaway to gain a bunch of followers and social media cred, and then up and gave the giveaway prize to a person who wanted to just make even more social media cred for them, in the form of taking pictures of it and posting them.

I just don’t think it holds water, is all. Whoever they gave the prize to, the company’s going to get the same exact result from it. Anybody that got it, if they’re on social media to enter anyway, would post pictures of it and brag on getting a “great yoyo from a great company.”

I just don’t think the extra gain is there for them to rig things like this. And they’ve explained it, at least as far as anyone on an internet forum has any right to expect them to explain it.

I think Occam’s Razor leads to this being exactly how they explained it, without anything else suggesting otherwise.

You make a really good point, whoever they were going to give it to was bound to post and brag about getting it anyway, getting the companies name out there

this is all I was getting at.

Great points @djinni_cake. Also it should be noted that the giveaway itself probably brought the company more attention than the giveaway winner (whoever it is) ever will. Literally no point in “rigging” it since the goal of better exposure for the company was already achieved.
