A yo-yo from a decade ago just got a modern rebuild, done with the original designer himself. EX! 2 is Modern Yoyos’ first bimetal, developed hand in hand with Axis founder James Reed to preserve everything that made the original EX! special while re-engineering its width, hub, and weight distribution for today’s competitive play.
The construction shift is the biggest change, moving from the original’s inner-ring bimetal to an outer-ring build pairing stainless steel rims with 7075 aluminum, with an undercut beneath the rims concentrating mass at the very edge for stronger horizontal stability. At 53.5mm wide and 66.35g, EX! 2 delivers a forgiving catch zone without tipping into extreme-width territory, staying composed through long combinations while remaining agile rather than sluggish. The entire exterior, including the stainless rims, is fully bead blasted, a rare touch on a bimetal that helps preserve spin during hand-brushing tricks like chopsticks, while a polished interior gap cuts down string friction during fast, dense play. The 4.45mm gap starts snug but ships with two 0.075mm stainless steel shims, letting you expand it to 4.525mm or 4.60mm depending on string thickness and trick density, and it comes installed with clear Shore 60 Hollywood Pads, the same pads behind every 2026 US National gold medal in 3A, 4A, and 5A.
EX! 2 returns in all six original colorways, black, blue, green, pink, purple, and red, each paired with a sticker pack featuring Christian Magpayo’s "EX!” logo and six color-matched Paul Escolar art stickers pulled straight from the original release, honoring a godfather of yoyoing whose trick inventions still shape the sport today.
