So, I have been yoyoing for about a year and I am trying to get an idea about the kind of routine I want to build for the contests coming up this year. I was wondering, are a 1.5 hook and a 2.0 hook considered the same element? Or are they just similar?
1.5 hook and 2.0 hook are similar tricks with similar concepts. They are not considered the same element, because they are different, but the principals behind them are similar.
If you are making a freestyle I would recommend these videos.
Is it the How to be a yo-yo champion thing on… ya know, that other yo-yo related website
Ya but the link is to youtube.
No 1.5 and 2.0 are different tricks entirely, advice for using them though, never do a big hook and then a smaller one, it never scores as well
Ahhh i see. Links to YouTube don’t show up for me for some reason. I have watched the series though. I just now started thinking about creating a freestyle.
What about a small hook then a bigger one?
Btw you’ve only been yoyoing for a year and you can already do 2.0 hook?! Impressive!
Lol SUPER inconsistent but yeah. I’ve been working on it, thanks. Also, I should mention, I’ve never gone to a competition before, this will be my first one.
What contest?
Congrats!
Utah state yo-yo contest. They haven’t released much details on it yet, but I think they will when the dates get closer.
I would do tricks in your routine that you are comfortable with and you can hit consistently.
That’s the thing, I don’t think that my current trick lineup will be enough for me to get a good placement.
Hmm🤔 will they have an amateur division? I competed in amateur my first contest.
How did it go?
I got third place! It was a good way to start. The pro was really competitive at that contest.
Wow! That’s sweet! How did you feel about your trick lineup? Like confident or worried?
I wasn’t really thinking about how good my tricks were, more about taking notes from those videos and making a routine with them.
