On his video about bearing maintenance Gentry Stein responded to someone’s question about the different color response pads and if they really perform different. Gentry said they are all made of the same material and perform the same. But yoyo factorys website breaks down each different colors performance characteristics. Whats the deal haha

So, not to refute Gentry (or anybody for that matter)…but the silicone rubber that pads are made from CAN be made from different rubber densities. This does not necessarily mean that they ARE, but they CAN be.
For example, a more dense rubber will not break down as fast. Conversely, a lower density rubber will wear away quicker.
I don’t know the specifics of YYF pads, or any other companies pads, but we’ve used several different densities until we found one that worked the best and lasted the longest.
