all right @edhaponik I will say, I don’t think the white engraving works well with these particular colors.. like.. at all. That part, I agree with. Love the sightlines tho!!
I think it looks a million times better in person. The photos just don’t capture how white the engraving is; instead they emphasise how the engraving is partially see-through.
Edit: the sight lines do legitimately look amazing IRL though
Massive fan of the sightlines. These colors, uh.. they’re.. uh.. er.. uh.. not for me?
Imagine how kick butt that engraving would look on a dark grey or black model. though. If I was Ed, I would have done a black-silver half swap with that same engraving, and reversed black-silver side effects.. like so..
.. but, y’know, we happen to be different people with different tastes, and that’s variety!

wow massive #spoileralert there.
Welp. We like what we like. Nice thing about mainly throwing and releasing WOOD yo-yos is they’re generally “wood colored” and my fragile ego doesn’t have to contend with people noting my apparently-lacking aesthetic sensibility. I should prob just stay in my lane (but I still like this yo-yo).

I think it looks good but different folks different strokes. I didn’t get the most recent one only cause I can’t justify buying a second deepest and the blue one is good for now

You know, I kinda feel like I was the one to pull my finger outa the crack first. I actually feel pretty bad about it to be honest. I know personally if I’d worked hard designing something, I wouldn’t want people out there talkin smack bout it. I understand that producing, marketing and selling something kinda opens one up for that, but still. There’s no cause to be rude. You’ll always catch more flys with honey then you will vinegar.
I’d later discover that while some people generally had mixed feelings for the color/placement/size etc regarding the engraving, everyone ELSE knew it was going to be there. Now, I am the dumdum who didn’t investigate my thought of, “oh, are those water marks? Eh, whatever.. take my money.”
I was super surprised once I yanked it out the box and saw it. I thought to myself, “WTF!! All the $ I send OD and they sent me this ano errored nightmare? WTF? Are they sending me a message? Do they not want me to buy their yo-yos?” I’d end up on here asking people to show me the other side of their Eh edition cause I had to check something. One person sent me a picture of their engraving to which I replied, “oh man! Yours too!?!” Like it was some huge error accidentally shipped out by OD. He said, “mine? What?” To which I replied, “the ano error, it’s on both of ours” he said, “what??? The Enso engraving?”
to which I (dumdum) replied, “huh?” Dumdum says what? He said, “yeah, it’s on all the eh editions. Od sent out an email regarding the engraving and what it means”
“Oh yeah, Eeeeeemail. I should check that” dumdum replied.
Bottom line is, that’s Ed’s run. Od let him make some designs and changes cause why? Well, he’s Ed Haponik. Would I have made that choice? Maybe not, but I’m a metal worker, not a YoYo wizard. I test and build large scale heat exchanges and furnaces for huge buildings and corporations. If ed or OD needs some crazy btu furnace for some ginormous building, maybe I’ll put an engraving on it.
Brass tax? I’m behind Ed and OD 100%. It really only freaked me out cause I didn’t expect it out of the box, and once I saw it, I thought it was just mine. I said before, I’m not returning it. No, In fact, I bought another one.

I like the Ensō engraving. What it represents and the provenance of this particular rendition are perfect for the edITION.
Seeing it in person, it’s pretty cool how they were able to create both the fine detail at the more “ragged” edges and the variable opacity in the more saturated areas. It really evokes a brush stroke.

In a departure from my normal long-winded oratories on a variety of things, I will substitute an unusually short view of this entire situation.
I will consider four factors in this instance and four factors only. One is form. Second is function. Third is outright performance. And fourth is the storyline that relates to this particular product.
If I can positively relate to, and accept the four primary factors, that more than offsets any particular fine points of contention, I may have. Any time somebody hands me a bowl of ice cream… It may not be my absolute favorite flavor.
But it’s ice cream… Double scoop and a spoon please…
Three thumbs up on this one. I usually borrow one of my wife’s thumbs when I really like something.

I tend to worry a lot, thus having been in a bad doomer hole lately leading up to the start of the holiday. The Deepest came at the right time, almost as though One Drop subconsciously knew somebody was up for a rough ride ahead and was like “OK let’s release these!”
Whether I’m just throwing, experimenting with pull start shenanigans, or just doing a mindless combo, I’m put into a deep state of “ignore the universe and it’s lemons and let loose”.
I still want to get hands on a YYE edition, though I’m very content with the 2 I currently own.
I promise, I’ll dust off my other Deep/Deeper States soon
