Counterweights (Now in TPU)!

It’s 5a May!!

Edit: 2 colors added! UV reactive Yellow and Green!

Edit 2: New material alert! TPU is now an option! I’ve designed this counterweight to be softer while maintaining a mass of right about 9.8 grams. It’s not too soft, but definitely not as hard as the green ABS ones. Here’s a video showing the difference. I currently have the TPU in Pink, Yellow and Orange, of which, the pink and yellow are UV reactive

Who’s ready to up their 5a game with me this month!? I’ve had a blast collaborating with Mike Marshall and he’s given me some good tips and pointers for what makes the best counterweights and I’m excited to share these two! One is inspired by a D20 (shoutout to all my fellow nerds). The D20 isn’t a true icosahedron as those would be a bear to print, but slightly stretched and modified so I can print them and so they fit a bead in the back. The other is an Opaque Echo of another counterweight out there, so I’m affectionately calling this the Opeko! The D20 is right at 10 grams and the Opeko weighs in at 9.8 grams.

These are printed out of ASA and are strong! I’ve put mine through the wringer; it’s taken some hard hits and is none the worse for wear so far!

Here’s how pricing is gonna work, if you buy one, it’s $15, shipping included to the CONUS (if you’re outside of there, let’s talk). Every counterweight you add after that gets you $3 off, so $12/ea after the first one  Please let me know what questions you have!

Those look awesome. Are you able to do different colors or clear?

Right now, this is all I’ve got for colors. I’m hoping to change that as these get some traction

Here’s the Opeko in action!

What 5a tricks are y’all working on this month? I’m working on the ATC 5a tricks and I’ve hit them, but I am NOT consistent.

I’m just doing the same 4 tricks I’ve been doing for 20 years haha. Also, those new colors are so sick.

New TPU Opeko color. It glows in the dark… which has basically zero yoyo application, but looks freaking sick. It’s also slightly UV reactive, and that’s a little more yoyo applicable.

I’ve struggled with glow filaments. My tpu has a strong glow, but it also has lower infill than my petg models:man_shrugging:. The uv reactive stuff is always fun to play with.

I’m running a bunch of infill to hit that 9.8 g mark :slight_smile:But I figured out a way to do that while keeping it slightly squishy too!
