I’d like to start this post with a question mainly directed to those who make yo-yo content (videos, tutorials, podcasts, reviews, etc.).
Even if you don’t make content, feel free to chime in! This convo is welcome to all!
Q.)- What motivates you MOST, to make yo-yo content? What REWARDS you (makes you feel rewarded) most?
And have you been to madness games and comics in Plano, Texas???
Here’s a small story that has a point, I promise…
Recently I’ve been getting recognized from my Instagram page and the few shoddy videos I have up on my YouTube. I’ve gone to the forest fair in Girdwood, Alaska and was recognized from my ig, I’ve been recognized at the guitar center, and recently my uncle has informed me of another instance.
A young kid walked into Madness Games & Comics in Plano Texas and spoke with my Uncle Kyle, looking for stickers for his yo-yo case. I wasn’t privy to the conversation, but I assume my uncle asked him if he had heard of BF_Throws or grizzlyb903 before, exclaiming his nephew was a sponsored yo-yo player and makes videos.
The kid was already aware of my content, and proceeded to explain to my uncle that he has seen every one of my videos on YouTube, and even went to NYYC using a trick they learned from my tutorials!
HOW COOL!!?!!! like man, that’s the whole reason I do it. For others to enjoy content about our amazing hobby, and to give the youth, and even some adults, a new conduit for their creative energy! I literally teared up reading that message from my uncle, and tbh it never gets old.
So if that kid is here on the forums, I’m not asking you to reach out if you don’t want to, but I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you so much for watching my stuff and learning some of my intermediate tricks! And for telling my uncle about it, bc that was a really cool “uncle” moment for him!
So the point of this post is simple:
-talk about different motivations for content creators (mine being getting the youth and others into a creative space, and just adding to the overall library of “yo-yo” content on the internet)
-and to drop your YouTube, insta, wherever your content gets posted, post it up here and promote it. I want to follow all of you, and I would love it if you could follow me as well! Comment on videos, like posts, all of this is Increasing exposure to our hobby and spreading the word! LETS GROW THE COMMUNITY!
