There’s a two page thread about the OneDrop/ILYY collab on the front page. Are people extra excited because it’s OneDrop and CLYW? Probably, but I think they get excited about collabs, period.

Neither One Drop nor CLYW is in the habit of announcing the “intention” to do something without that thing already being mostly done, so the idea that they would make a big and bold announcement with zero substance is kind of insulting to both companies, IMO.
Chris works fast, design-wise, and the One Drop folks seems to move quick from a production standpoint so what I think is most likely is that Chris came down for PNWR, stopped by the factory, whipped up something awesome from files of one of his yoyos and one of theirs, they all said “YEAH!” ran a couple of protos, and decided to make it happen.
I can absolutely see that happening in a matter of a couple of days with these guys. Yes, that’s totally speculation on my part.
(I’m pretty sure I sound like a total jerk with this post. Not my intention at all, but hey…internets, right?)
In any event, I’m pretty sure the end result will be pretty darn awesome. CLYW is gold, as far as I’m concerned. I have absolute faith in Chris.
This collaboration has been in the works for almost a year now, we just haven’t been able to get together until now. The Wooly Markmont was combining actual features of two designs, for this project we wanted to do a design from scratch.
We both went into this project without any expectations/plans and just wanted to see what we could come up with together on the spot. What ended up happening we think is pretty sweet. I can’t wait!
I really gotta give it up to Shawn on this one. He’s a machine(ist). I just pulled out my fancy solidworks cad program … he’s the one who finished the design and is doing the programming and setting up the cnc lathe.
I did the profile with my software and Shawn did the inner cup/SEs with his software. It’s a neat collaboration of strengths.
I’m currently watching Shawn do the programming and I have no idea what is going. A G02 what? Z -1 who?
Hoping to do a small release at Cal States. Going to be tight!

I understand your defense of CLYW marketing, but telling me that I am insulting someone based on your speculation about facts that have not been disseminated is just ridiculous. I am speaking only to facts. If you want to imagine a scenario that makes this announcement sensible - that is your business. Do not criticize me for my non-participation in your speculation.

We can’t post specs or hard facts because we are in the process of making things. Kind of silly to criticize us for that.
First parts are coming off the machine now. Once we have something we can stand behind we will post more info.
