title says it all, debating on picking up a bonfire (for the free ditch combo). wondering if i even should partake since i already have a leaf

While similar they definitely are different. The leaf has a lighter feeling, the YoYo itself feels like the walls are thinner. The leaf has a more chimney “ring” to it when flicked or sometimes when binding, the bonfire sounds and feels more solid. That said I have seen evidence of a dogwalked leaf that still plays smooth.
The overall shapes are similar, and play characteristics, but they are distinct. Leaf’s got the ineffable double rims, but the bonfire also maintains that CLYW je-ne-sais-qua with its string feel and big wide axle and spiky hubs. Finish wise, I have a Shiny Blue Leaf and Endless Summer bonfire, which is blasted, so the bonfire wins with grinds I guess, but i haven’t gotten much into them.
Also, have changed response in my bonfire but kept my Leaf stock, so that colors play a bit, bonfire is more forgiving with less repose now. Both are still fun. I have gone back and forth on trading my leaf because I love my bonfire so much, but they are different enough that I’ve decided to hold on it.
