Ahahahahahah thanks George, is mostly like every string react different to whips and slacks and in general all the tricks, I learnt how couple of brands behave (Zipline Alphaline, Kitty First Class both in neon yellow) and then I sort of “get stuck” with it, I am not even super interested to try more, I do like also Sochi Phoenix but them are hard to find around. Once I knew how those strings perform (also I really like them at the touch are quite soft) I did not change, same for bearings and pads (which for me are the most important stuff), grey silicone all life!
The only difference I notice in bearings is that the konkaves are leas forgiving when you try to speed combo and you suck donkey balls like me. The yoyo snags sometimes.
Other than that, as long as it spins quite it is the dame for me.
Strings: I agree with you but I’d also add p44 fat 12 medium coarse. For the price it is pretty good and in par with kitty in terms of feeling. Maybe less durable though but again… Price difference.
Pads : I like c3 jp and the standard white ones.
What do you mean gray silicone? Flowable? Bah, can’t be bothered with that…
So, about P44, someone sent me some and I love them but are impossible to find easily, for me when I created my setup I take in account other than how it works: price and availability.
I tried to find something that is easily available without break the bank.
About pads yes Permatex grey silicone is my jam, it does take 5 minutes to be done and is once in a blue moon that you have to redo it, I do love the response and slippyness, doing all this dense stuff I need something that doesn’t snag easily.
About center track, I have to admit that the only ones I tried are the usual ones that comes with yoyo, while I tried fancy concave and the DS, centre track I never tried the NSK and similar so it is also possible that I have been quite unlucky lol
It’s KonKave for me. But most of my stuff came with fiat outer race.
If you like that soft and slippy feeling you should try c3 jp. You can find them in Europe of you want.
Hit me up on insta for info.
Doc. You are an institution around here.
But if you continue like this, we will need an index and chapters soon.
I like konkave more when possible but good bearings are good bearings. Center tracs seem to spin for ever so slightly less time on the pencil test than konkaves do but as long as either bearing spins for at least 5 seconds when flicked on a pencil the action on it is good.
I have really come around on flats. I thought they were just useless gap filler til you picked up a concave, but having spent some time playing OD 10 balls, I love them!! Much easier to slide the string through without snagging, and they just play great imo.
Different people for different tastes lol! I personally loathe flats except on organics. I admire OD’s craftsmenship on their 10-balls but i hate how they feel so I’m glad they have a market.
