Mowl continues to push the boundaries of yo-yo design with their first-ever hollow-body release — Capsuloid. A functional art piece you can take anywhere, the Capsuloid combines bold design with a completely fresh approach to yo-yo development.
Unlike most models where the shape comes first and artwork comes last, Capsuloid was designed around the artwork. Created in collaboration with Kalon Design Studio, the goal was simple yet radical: give the yo-yo a smooth, flat face that could serve as a true circular canvas. The result is a larger-than-usual hollow-body with a striking profile and a unique personality.
Despite its hollow construction, the Capsuloid is carefully balanced to maintain the feel of a high-performance metal yo-yo. Weight is pushed toward the rim for stability and power, while the hollow caps provide a soft, comfortable feel in hand. The round shape and light, effortless throw make it a joy for casual play, perfect for long sessions without fatigue.
The artwork is just as compelling as the design itself. Inspired by the concept of a capsule drifting through space, the name Capsuloid combines capsule and asteroid. The face features intricate details: a DNA-like double helix wrapping around abstract molecular structures tied to human emotion and identity. Each element is left open to interpretation, making every spin feel like you’re holding a piece of cosmic mystery.
The Capsuloid isn’t about competition specs or hardcore performance — it’s about expression, creativity, and carrying a piece of Mowl’s vision with you wherever you go.
