Big Red String

Well, you have my curiosity. How fat are your fat strings in comparison to, say, OT, Kitty, etc? I might have to check you out!

From what I have been told, our thick puts the Big in Big Red.

As mentioned earlier, let me know if you’re interested in a ā€œthickness sampler packā€ of Cloud 9 - we are considering adding this to our website, but I can add it to a specific order in the meantime.

Medium it probably is then. Thanks again!

That’s our most popular, by far. Seems to bridge the gap between thickness, softness, and response.

The thicker stuff works wonders on wide-gapped yoyos, but the medium still works fine there too!

I ordered some and I am wondering about tracking services

Hi,

I am currently responding to both of your emails that were sent roughly 10 minutes ago. Please allow time to respond to your orifinal inquiry before posting something publicly, as that gives the feeling you are not as interested in the solution as something else, perhaps.

Thanks,

~ Big Red

My apologies

Just for transparency, I believe we are on the same page about these for now - please let me know if that changes. I appreciate your trust and patience @MoxieOpal - looking forward to hearing your thoughts on them!

Big red strings rocks.. their medium thickness nylon string is what ive been looking for. It last forever and once its broken in it plays even better. I will be ordering some more way before i ā€œneedā€ new string….

This is great to hear! Thanks for giving us a try and sharing your thoughts!

Very interested in ordering some string, but pretty confused on your website. Are all your nylon strings the ā€œsameā€ design but different colors, or are they really different? (Like is Golden Retriever just Cloud 9 in a different color, or is it a different string?) And what’s the difference between nylon and dyed nylon? Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to look at our website.

The main difference between nylon and dyed nylon is the dye process itself - this is done in house (as opposed to getting nylon that is colored by the manufacturer). This results in a deeper color (saturation), however I want to be transparent about it since, IMO, this matters and ultimately has a small, albeit true, effect.

If we are getting granular here, different colors (dyed at the manufacturer/factory) play different. Over the course of repeated and painstakingly redundant personal exploration, there are a few colors that play close enough to each other that I am pretty confident there are not drasticly noticeable differences (Cloud 9, Golden Retriever, Red Herring), however a few additional/fewer winds are accounted for on my end. The dyes used with these nylon strands/threads are fairly mild (resulting in mild/pastel colors), but are still present.

Both Northern Lights & Pikachu are hand-dyed by me, accounting for as many variables as I can without a scientific lab-style set up (solvent, temperature, exposure time, pre/post cleaning process, volume, drying process, etc.), however I am by no means a professional dye artist or scientist/chemist (although I would be remiss if I didn’t give a HUGE shoutout to my younger brother for graduating with his PhD in Chemistry from the prestigious University of Chicago this past year!).

Hopefully this helps shed some light on your questions - if you have more specific questions feel free to shoot me a message and I’ll see what I can do.
