This yearās BAC will be just as great as last yearās. The big difference is there will be finals in all 5 divisions, and there will be more venders. Cool to hear that youāre biking it from BART! Donāt forget that itās in Golden Gate Park this year and not Washington Square Park
Ive got my route planned out. Last year I did the bike thing from Embarcadero, was a fun ride. This year, I have a slightly longer ride but think itāll work out. Iām getting off at Civic Center Bart, and going to use Haight St to get up to Golden Gate. Since I havenāt gone up Haight before, anyone recall how the hills are/how hilly it is?
In the mean time Iām excited. Iāve got somewhat of a shopping list put together as to what throws Iām going to want to pick up, string, etc. Now to figure out what yoyos to take with me up there.
Wow, that was a lot of fun. I got to meet a bunch of people and see some amazing freestyles. Chris of Studio 42 did a great job with the sound. Kyle Derry did a great job playing for YYSL - Hey man, thanks for taking a couple of days off school to come all the way out from NY to hang out at the āLabā and share your talent.
Kyle and I got to try out Matt Leanseās prototype yoyo (the name is to be finalized later, but the company is Moment Yoyos). Itās a super nice balance of light and fast with excellent stability and control. It didnāt seem like Kyle wanted to put it down.
It was a pretty nice day and a long weekend. I also (briefly) popped by to say hi to Studio42 as well as meeting Andre Boulay (and getting him to sign my Dark Magic ) and JD. Iām not sure if it was YYFās Ben that I was talking to about the B-grade Avant Gard I purchased or talking about the One Star but I think I may have talked to him as well, donāt quite remember.
The ride up there was a killer on the legs and ended up walking up the steep slopes of Haight. I also got the pleasures of idiot drivers on the road not watching out for cyclists so they got a quick blast of my bikeās 115db airhorn Stopped them dead in their tracks. In the end, it was well worth it just to be out for the day and remotivating myself to learn new stuff with yoyoing. Just prior, I had myself stuck in a rut and no motivation/inspiration to do new tricks and found myself doing the same tricks. Thanks to the event - watching competitors, checking out the YYE Trick Contest, and just watching other spectators, Iāve been carrying a yoyo with me all day yesterday and today and messing around during any open opportunity.
And before I knew it, the day was over and was time to start heading back across to my side of the bay. Honestly, my ride home seemed to take longer than getting up to Golden Gate Park.
