Aight so I tried one of these and went from totally fine to some sort of serious reaction like shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing, got really tired really quick and had to lay down like could barely open my eyes. I kept smelling it too and made myself try to shower it off but kept smelling it after and it only got kind of better but not that much. i was out of it like so out of it I didn’t realize I was really having a serious reaction and then my wife looked it up and had me use alcohol to take it off and that instantly made a difference like it was a crazy A/B. Idk all this to say i think im out of fragrances lol it was probably citral causing a respiratory reaction bc that was the only known allergen in what I reacted to vs the comme des garcon black which i am fine with. I don’t know just like a crazy thing that happened w this. Nothing like that has ever happened to me it was wild. I still feel weird now like I ran a half marathon or something earlier today
I love fragrances…but I have neither the money nor space to be truly in to them.
I have some lovely originals and some decent dupes. Enough to last me for a few years in either case.
Oudh really works for me, and I adore tobacco and violet based scents.
Used gear oil really does it for me (iykyk)
@Juiccetin Sooo back to this, I somehow found myself falling into the rabbit hole, and have learned way more about fragrances than intended to trying to find a new scent lol. I recently bought Born In Roma EDT, looking for a good everyday that suits me, thinking Prada Black or Ysl Myslf.
I’ve actually been intp perfumes since I was a kid! I was wearing burberry when it was NOT appropriate for my age lol. These days I’m kinda just trying out whatever brand is kinda interesting to me, but when I find something really good I might go find the designer and hunt down other stuff I like. This guy who made a bunch of niche frags I like a lot did some ariana grande perfumes which is wayyy more in my budget than his normal stuff lol.
Right now I’m into wearing the Boysmells Cowboy Kush. I think they’re rebranding from unisex to a more traditionally young and feminine direction according to my partner? We shall see.
I wear two of those. Never tried New York deli
Never pay store price. There are countless legitimate websites where you can get really nice stuff for half the price. Plus the bigger bottles are the best bang for the buck and generally last about a year depending on the amount of fluid ounces. Personally I’d gladly pay 80-120$ to smell incredible for a year
As much as I’m not a fan of the guy and really didn’t want to buy it. . .Drakes Summer Mink is wonderful. I went in to Ulta planning on just testing things I hadn’t yet tried and I just kept coming back to Summer Mink. Ended up grabbing it.
A few weeks ago they had Aramis Intuition Intense on sale for about 70$ for the 3.4 FL. oz. Grabbed that as well.
For years I was swapping between Paco Rabanne Invictus Victory and different Versaces. I still keep a bottle of Invictus on the shelf at all times. Such a great scent.
I’ve been considering going for something a little more spicy but it’s been hard to find the right one. The Aramis to me has some spiciness to it but I’m sure there’s something else out there I’d like a lot
Prada Black is a timeless classic. YSL Myself is absolutely worth the money. I grabbed a bottle about a while back and have had it sitting on my shelf for special occasions
Go to Ulta or any local store that has testers and test things. Spray it on the tester strip, flap that thing around to let it breathe and inhale deeply. Go with what really stands out to you.
As a rule of thumb:
Less oil = less time the scent lasts on you. From longest to shortest is this-
Parfum>Eau De Parfum>Eau De Toillete>Eau De Cologne
I generally stick to EDP and Parfum unless a specific brand doesn’t make either (Valentino makes stellar scents but they mostly only do EDT for men while women get EDP)
Also, be aware of your climate. If it’s swelteringly hot outside or hot and humid don’t go for sweet scents. They’ll get sickly sweet and be very off-putting when mixed with your sweat and the heat
Trying the Prada Black and Myslf on my skin didnt work for me at all, they’re painfully simple for someone like me who has a flashy fun style, I’ve tried Afnan 9pm tho and I enjoy it, waiting to test Khamra Qahwa.
Feel free to recommend some well priced everyday frags you think I may work for me! ![]()
You try Versace Eros Energy? Super bright very lemon forward. Very fun
If you’re wanting something that really stands out you could try some of Spice Bombs stuff as well or the Valentino stuff
Gifted my dad one of the Versace lines, think the og? As I said I have the born in roma edt, maybe the green stravaganza might be a good everyday? What spicebomb would you say? (Something not to sweet more like a subtle warm i dont like barbershop) Mind you i dont really like the JPG line or anything thats really powerful, reminds me of Axe spray kids aha
I recently returned green stravaganza. It smelled good for about 5 minutes. It’s a very close to the skin scent and needs reapplying throughout the day.
As far as spice bomb I really wouldn’t know what exactly to suggest. I’ve sampled their stuff and enjoyed some things but not enough to grab it. I like a lot of the classic and rich scents and I’m still trying to develop a pallet for the loud spicy fancy stuff
Ye loud spicy isnt exactly me either aha
Qahwa is an awful synthetic nightmare, try givenchy Pi instead
I have always loved fragrance but I lean WAY more towards incense than body fragrance. Years ago I got more into the very high quality, fully natural incenses that come out of small villages in Tibet, India, Nepal, and such. These small villages in the mountains hold some of the most talented scent-blenders in the world. Distributers have changed over the years because you have to actually travel around those places to get these products. Right now Everest Trader on Etsy is the only place in the US you can get them. It is a vast collection and unfortunately there are no descriptors. But it’s well worth perusing and trying some. At least… I like it. ![]()
I got khadlaj island recently and an imagination dupe
I smelled the body spray version of Qahwa and it smelled good, so I’ll smell the cologne version first before I make a decision aha.
