Any physics freaks?

How about the wet twisted towel? Does that count? :joy::rofl:

My uncle used to take his bullwhip out to the backyard if we kids asked nicely enough. The crack of that whip made a truly magnificent sound.

We used these tightly woven dense surgical towels in the OR. When we would wet the end and get snapping, we would draw blood! Then have to go change scrubs for the blood spots! So I guess it counts? :joy:
Although one note on technique, you don’t pull a whip back like a towel! Keep that in mind as it’s actually a common beginner mistake! And a way to hit yourself.
I guess whip sparring is a thing!

I highly recommend making or buying one! The ability to make a sonic crack with a flick of the arm is quite fun and amazing at the same time.

15 min. whip parts list:
This is enough for 2 whips, if you buy 2 pvc lengths/couplers.

  1. 1ft of 1/2" pvc and 1 coupling (buy at local hardware, online prices are triple or more but available)
  2. 10 ft. of 3/16" rope, I use 550 paracord. Enough for a lot of whips and begleri.
  3. 54", 40", and 18" of 3/8" twisted nylon rope This is enough for 4-5 whips.
  4. 5ft, 2ft, and 1ft of ball chain, aka ceiling fan pull. Enough for 2 whips.
  5. 33" Mason twine (you’ll use this to continue making new crackers but a roll will last forever)
  6. 1 big roll or 2 medium rolls cloth athletic tape. This pack is enough for 2 whips.
  7. electrical tape - 1 roll is way more than enough for 2 whips.
