This is not meant to be a serious thread, but rather more of a curiosity: why do some people shorten anodization to “anno” when there’s only one ‘n’ in the full word? That’s not only making the abbreviated word longer than it has to be, but also spelling it less like the original.

I think it is shortened because ‘anodization’ is just such an awkward word. It is even hard to say in your mind. The extra ‘n’ is probably because we say it’s shortened form as ‘an’ and ‘no’; hence ‘anno’.
The word ‘ammo’ also gives a clue about pronunciation. Substituting the ‘n’ for the ‘m’ tells us how to pronounce this shortened form.
Yeah, I definitely get wanting to shorten it. I was more amused by the different ways people do so. Good explanation for anno.
