Alrighty, got a short clip of the Tempest in play. Tons more videos to come, but here’s one of my favorites from our trip.

Thanks brother :folded_hands::folded_hands::folded_hands:

This has been my go to 5a setup since camping. That pom can take a lot of abuse. These pictures are after it had hit rocks, fell in water, and accidentally throwing it into the trees. Pleased to say it still plays and looks amazing.

Holy Cow Batman! Poms are almost gone! Still have a few units left, so if you were thinking about snagging one, get one now! It’s going to be a bit before we have these restocked.

In the meantime, here’s another clip I cut this morning to show off more play with the Tempest.

My personal favorite tricks are grinds, and that might be the 90s kid skater in me, but here’s the pom holding up to some fun repeater grinds.

I’m very happy with it, SIGNIFICANTLY better than my first attempt from the past, haha!

Edit: After the success of the Tempest, I went back and re-did my first ever dye attempt with much better results as well (since I still had some dye left over), lessons learned, haha. Alchemik helping me in more ways than one!

I really was going to order one but honestly the more I looked at it the more I did not like the white. What was the process of dyeing it. Even if it was died just a solid color it would just be so much better or do a half swap. Dye both sides different

What was your process of dyeing it

I’m sure other people have different ways, but this is how I did mine at least!
My process was essentially as follows:
(Specifically Rit DyeMore Synthetic Dye)

Pulled the bearing, spacer, and pads. Washed both halves with soap to clean any oils, then left the axle in and looped a string around the axle to suspend them without touching the bottom of a Stainless pot (little 5/8 quart pot that was perfect).

Filled pot with 1.5 cups water, 3-4 Tbsp dye (or less/more depending on desired depth of color), and ~3 drops of dish soap.
Brought to just under boil (200°F), and lowered the yoyo in (suspended without touching the bottom). Topped off with a little more water and/or dye if needed to cover, let it simmer for around 30 mins but checked every 10 minutes or so, as it will continue to get more saturated. You want it to be slightly darker than the color you’re going for because it will lighten a tad when you rinse it.

Plunged in an ice bath to lock the pores. Dried and applied the hot glue all willy nilly.
Repeated the process with the other color (or same if you want it two toned) but checked every 5 mins or so, and ended up pulling at 10 mins.

Re-ice bath, then peeled off the glue and scrubbed clean with soap and a brush.

This is absolutely insane!!! You did such an incredible job with this dye job, we can’t get over drooling over this! Thanks for posting this up, absolutely made our day seeing this! Also thank you for taking the time to go over your process with the community. We hope to see more people do this with the poms.

We would love to do more colors, we are looking into it right now, but it will be awhile before we restock the pom. We have a couple more surprises on the way before that

That being said, if you do happen to snag a pom, definitely post up your dye job! Would love to see a half swap one, that would be really sick!
