A New Way To Make Trading On The B/S/T Safer

I have an idea, not sure if it has been proposed yet but I think it can make trading safer. I have been thinking now, why trade? I think a smarter approach would be to buy the throws off each other at an equal price. For instance there is person A and person B. Person A has a Draupnir and agrees to trade it with person B who has a Palpitation. Now instead of trading by exchanging addresses, they buy them off each other. So person A sends $180 to person B, and person B sends $180 to person A. Of course they send via goods and services. Now how does one scam? If both are shipped with tracking and signed arrival you cannot perform a charge back. I want to know if their is a flaw with this system, if not though I do believe that this should prevent scammers from cheating out on each other.

I hope that this is pointed out to moderators. Perhaps this is how we can make trading fair and safe.

Please let me hear your thoughts!

Only problem I see Is that you would need a set disposable amount of PayPal cash ready every time you want to trade .

Trading for a draupnir , that means you are technically putting up $200 in cash and $200 in trade (like a palp, masamune ,etc)

So you both send each other the same amount of money? Maybe I don’t get it.

What is wrong with how trades are done now? If you are dealing with honest people it’s pretty easy to fix a problem (currently happening to me and another guy right now, which has all been sorted out).

Don’t trade with people with little or no feedback unless they send first, that’s always been the rule.
I mean no offense but it seems like you’ve had multiple bad experiences with getting scammed recently. Maybe you need to be a little more picky on who you deal with? If a trade or sale is too good to be true, unless they have tons of feedback and seem like a generous person, it could very well be a scam. I always ask if they’d ship first if I have any doubts. Not saying its all your fault, of course it isn’t, but it does seem like you’ve had some issues lately and I feel like this idea is a result of that haha.

I know this would never be made a rule, but if it were I wouldn’t trade here anymore.

I’ve never been scammed and with my old yyn trades, I’ve done easily over 60 trades and buys, probably more.

Nothing could be more simple than just sending each other the yoyo, right?

What could be done I guess is what they do on Nike Talk, each party sends there yoyo to a moderator of the trade. You give the moderator the money to re-ship, as well as a fee, and the moderator makes sure both yoyo’s go out on the same date. Takes twice as long but is safer. That is a method that is successfully done with sneakers, but honestly I don’t think is needed either.

Not trying to hate on new ideas! But I’m hating on your new idea :stuck_out_tongue: haha

I’ve often thought about this as a solution to scammers over the years.

As to the original idea initially presented by RomulusR1, it is really only a solution to outright trades that may be a scam. People should already be sending payment for a buy as goods and services so they are protected. This scheme extends the paypal buyer protection to trades as well. A little cumbersome, but workable if both parties agree.

If you are the smart person who uses the Pay for Goods and Services when having someone buy, you will lose money. There is a Paypal fee that needs to be paid for by you. Therefore, to me at least, each person loses money on the deal.

I think the idea is a good one, it may just need to be flushed out a little. I think a common concern is the PayPal cash needed for the trade. Lots of members here may not even have their own PayPal account, never mind the extra security cash to cover a trade. Also, as Zorro pointed out, when using “goods and services” PayPal takes a cut to pay for the protection services. The point of trading is to get rid of a yoyo and get a different one with minimal cash cost. Maybe the key to the original idea is to leverage that goods and services protection by putting a full description of what you are trading/sending the money for. Pay a token amount (maybe enough to cover shipping, after PayPal fees) but describe what you are buying “mint CiTizen, never sparked” then, if you get a beat magic yoyo instead, let PayPal fight for you…

I think there is always inherent risk with an Internet forum based trade (it feels much safer to trade in person at a yoyo event - you see, feel and play the yoyo you are trading for). However, by following the guidelines in BST, you can reduce risks. I’ve sold a few, bought a few and traded a couple, and not yet had a bad experience. Of course, I did trade with a known member with more feedback than I, and I shipped first. He received the yoyos, confirmed they were what I promised and then shipped to me. Great transaction. They should all be so easy.

On the forums, I only sell or trade for cheap yoyos (plastics and whatnot). I don’t actually trade for anything of value unless I meet the person face-to-face.
