Good day to anyone listening. As some of you are aware… I LOVE the Dreamland from David Yo-yos. I struggle to come up with proper descriptions for things in general but when I heard @ExYoyoAddict in another thread a few days back saying that he planned on another run and was trying to figure things out… I felt almost duty bound to start a thread to talk about this and possibly help give this project a nudge. Now I know that everyone has their favorite and they love it for an infinite number of different reasons. The Dreamland is my all time favorite. It is an astounding throw. One issue though, is that the initial release was limited. I’m not sure how many were made but the market was certainly not saturated with them. As a result, there are so many people who have no idea what this slice of perfection is all about. I’m really hoping that anyone who has one will share their opinions here and help to push this project forward. I’m telling you… I NEED a second. Let’s all help David to help me reach that goal. I have more to come but I wanted to go ahead and get this thread going before I forget. I will leave you with a few photos and information. ![]()
it looks delightful and i was happy to hear in that other thread you mentioned that i may get a chance to finally see what the fuss is about!
Do take a moment and look at the link I left. It has a great description of David’s vision for this yo-yo and I, along with many others will attest that he totally nailed it. As I was saying prior, everyone has likes and dislikes that differ greatly so what’s great to one person is good to another but not quite what they’re after. I can’t imagine anyone not being astonished on first throw of the Dreamland. Especially if you love undersized yo-yos. At 50mm it’s not so small as to be difficult but feels like the small end of normal to me. 50-54mm is a super sweet spot for me. So at 50mm the Dreamland feels so perfect in my hand that nothing else has compared. Now here is where I say that I’ve never had a @DocPop sized collection or anything even close. So I am saying these things from a rather narrow perspective; however, I am as capable as the next person when it comes to recognizing an anomaly. And that’s what the Dreamland is. Expect it to be anything you want and it will still defy your expectations in a very good way. While I may not have tried an extensive array of yo-yos, I have had what I feel is a decent introduction to a fair portion of the spectrum of throws from sheer comfort to sheer performance. Centrifugal Motion and Inception are 2 on the performance end that I’ve tried. Both so stable they felt as if they were on rails. With the Inception being the more pronounced, both felt more rigid and solid. Once on course these guys demand to stay on course. Even the Haymaker X I feel was in this group. On the opposite end there are the sheer comfort oriented throws. There are many in this camp also that I have not tried but I do have some I like and some I’ve tried that were a joy to throw but I don’t have the level of focus needed to string many tricks together without losing control. Of those I own and like are the AL Freehand One and the G2xYYBC Operator both of which require more finesse but not overly so. I also recently tried the Oasis by Dressel Designs and found it to be a nice performance organic. To be continued…….
