I definitely resonate with that musician side. A good Bass for me can easily be £1500ish.
OR
500 + 1000 in mods.
So yoyo feels like such a cheap project in comparison it’s easy to get caught up in the GAS.
I’ve bought nearly 60 yoyos this year so far, after taking a break for over 10 years. I’ve been super intentional about what throws I buy though.
I’m trying to plot the evolution of the game since I left.
And also buy some key pieces I couldn’t afford as a kid.
I think now I’ve found what I connect with, so I’m cutting down my collection for the most part.
It’s insane to see how far yo-yos have come, but also how much noise and nonsense is there at the same time.
I feel like I can pick up almost any ‘07-12 throw and they all just make sense and have a distinct character, compared to a lot of new stuff that just lacks a lot of substance.
Out of them 57, there’s about 10 in my everyday rotation. I think half of those are pre shutter. I think a lot shifted after that.
Now I’m not lost in the sauce I can hone in on my tricks
(But bearings and string are a whooole other thing i still need to relax about )
