2026 Tariff consideration

Well it has been my dream to design and have my own yoyo manufactured for a number of years now. Recently I took on the endeavor and put together my designs and contacted a manufacturer for prototype quotes.

I am at the point where I have my designs and my manufacturing (china) ready to go but I cannot for the life of me find a way to estimate my costs to ship and the tariff collected.

My concern of course is that in trying to bring a new design to market, that the tariffs and additional costs are going to kill any potential profit margin.

Does anyone have any experience with importing chinese made yoyos in 2026 and how much they have had to pay in tariff and duties to actually get them into the country?

I work with a non traditional shop that doesn’t normally make yo-yos. So far they have been good to me and I’ve imported a number of orders, production and prototype.

They offer something called DDP Incoterms which is a fancy way of saying they are delivered to me with duty and tariffs covered by the shipper. Haven’t paid a penny on those orders.

I used another shop before them and they offered the more traditional DAP Incoterms, which is what like FPM or other shops normally do. Those were 20% tariffs. I also have to pay local city and state tax on sales totaling 30% so another surprise expense to keep in mind.
