Yoyo Boomer Club workhorse

Will there be a new Workhorse this year? Would love to see an MR85 version

Probably not a mr85 workhorse under G2. If we partnered with Mk1 maybe we could come up with something but I feel like the plasm, harbinger and rbc kind of fill that space well. Only thing I would like to see is the origin in a matte or blasted finish as I think it’s great except the gloss finish. Or something in the shape with the mr85 still made available as throwback isn’t active atm

The next version of workhorse will probably be a bit lighter and have spikes or fingerspin. Maybe other minor changes also we have talked a bunch about a ti version but that would be a pre order style limited run with only so many seats and fairly expensive . Also with the queen bee still in the horizon and g2 other initiatives probably won’t be a ti workhorse till this time next year at best.

Any plans on a change to the response system? No slight meant to G2 but something more accessible instead of proprietary would be a welcome change

Unless there is a known substitute?

Same pads as the g2 respawn. We could chat with Jake on options maybe stocking a bunch with a retailer or something but I do like the response and it’s no different from the mr85 yo-yos or zgrt mijo in how the pads are specific to the design…

This would be an instant buy for me.

Been playing it a bit today after siliconing with clear permatex. Doesn’t look like the silicone is lifting at all. Hopefully it responds better to the temp/humidity changes than the pads did. Only other pads that’ve ever done that to me are the duncan stickers

Anyways, great response, played both bearing and zgrt blank in it, feels a touch snappier on the bearing response than the pads, but with the blank its indistinguishable to the pads

Wow, major shout-out to everyone involved in making this thing, finally broke down and got one, had to see what I was missing.

I wanted a touch more of weight and thankfully was gifted these caps. They fit super secure and give it the perfect weight for me, not to mention the ability to pull start with them.

Received this with a standard flat D bearing, and it plays like a dream as is for all of the old school responsive tricks I remember from the 90s. I’d have been the coolest kid on the playground back then with this thing.

I packed the bearing with some grease and it’s response now is perfection for the basic 0A I know, while still spinning more than enough to still do old school 1A (with a tad less spin on account of the grease but still plenty.). A best of both worlds. Good job everyone!

And to the poster above, thank you for tips on the permatex, I live in a super humid area

I’m gonna have to get this vest to match these caps lol

You can also tune the weight with O-Rings on this model. Any 50mm Diameter O-Ring will fit inside the rims. The rings I tested add anywhere from 2 grams all the way up to 10 grams.

Not sure about those specific caps because I didn’t print them, but i did design the caps and found they were usually 8-9 grams per cap for regular filament. Makes the workhorse real chunky but in a way I like when I put in the slim bearing.

I might be thinking of 8-9 grams total now that I think about it. I would weigh some but I’m on vacation and didn’t pack them lol.

Miner J printed these, one set is heavy, other is light, don’t have scales or I’d check

I didn’t weigh them either, but I have the slicer files from when I printed them which should give a decent estimate. Looks like between 4 and 4.25g per cap, or 8-8.5g per set.

That sounds right now that I think about it! I did some wooden filament ones that were a little lighter at I want to say 7 grams as well.

I printed some a few days ago and they’re 8-9 grams total. They fit amazingly, so great job on the design, as always!
