I think you are right!
About people being crazy? Iâm absolutely certain of that! ![]()
unless thereâs some sort of ano error thatâs visible, i believe all the bgrades were for vibe. i have one and it has a good amount
of nail vibe, but nothing you can feel on the string.
Nostalgia, and scarcity. There are a lot of yo-yos from that time period sat around in old collections, much like yours.
Talking about the A grades lol. But also true ![]()
Yeah, I remember there were very few of them; I think that out of the 25 produced, only 5âjust one-fifthâwere Grade A. Since the colorway was actually really nice and it seemed a shame not to sell them, they came up with a cool name (and they pulled it off) to avoid simply calling them âB-grades,â and they engraved it right on there⌠the term âFoolâs Goldâ originated with that yoyo (misfortunes are not always what they seemâŚ)
(p.s. very beautiful colorway!!! As simple as it is beautiful.)
Did that BvsM color scheme have a name?.. Damn, I canât rememberâŚ
No name on the BvM colourway, itâs just the first run.
There were 25 gold nugget peaks, with more than 20 having major vibe - no exact number but I think thereâs 4 a grades at best
I had an A-grade gold nugget back in the day. Had worse vibe than my buddyâs fools gold version - mightâve been one of my worst playing yo-yos at that time honestlyâŚ
So me and my buddy got bored, sanded it down, and then bead blasted it ![]()
Okay, so thatâs why I couldnât remember the name of the BvsM⌠it never had one!
Now that you mention it, there was more than one colorway in that batch⌠am I mistaken, or was one of them like that but with pink splashes?
Are you sure it was a first run? It seems to me they made them towards the end, when they had stopped giving names to the colorways.
Peaks of this era all had minor ano issues compared to todayâs standards. Fools Gold (B-Grades) were all issues with Vibe.
That grey/green is a 1st run BvM. No colorway name. Second run was a lighter gray with with 3 different color splashes - blue, pink, and orange
Yep that BvM was the first color released albeit one of the less desirable colorways, hereâs a little more info on it from the original YYN storefront from June 2008.
This is it! I wish theyâd bring back the splash on clear, it was such an awesome look
I agree. Even though if they did it again I feel it just wouldnât hit the same. Iâm not trying to be offensive to them, but their colors & finishesâŚare just not it nowadays. Monkeyfinger nails that finish that OG CLYWs used to have. G2 does a killer finish too. Not saying their finishes are terrible - Iâm just set in my old ways with loving throws that have a heavy blast for that powdery texture
Agree. MFD is the best in the game when it comes to old school and quality finishes.
I wonder if pioneer is still anodisingâŚ
I got one at Midwest Regionals in 09â, I regret trading it more and more every day. ![]()
Edit, just confirmed with a friend that got one too, they were $60 at the clyw booth. Oof.
Itâs also funny to think that at one point, we held 10% of the FG peaks.
itâs not a bad throw at all. i got it in a recent trade, and iâm generally not a vibe monster, so i donât mind the fools gold designation. it still plays very wellâŚ.
