In need of a logo for my yoyo club. And i thought i would reach out and see if anyone wants to help with some fun funky family friendly logo ideas. I have no design skills, so i hate to admit i use AI when in need. I don’t have any actual budget so i was wondering if there is anyone that wants to donate some basic ideas that i could use as logos for the " Lynbrook Yo-Yo club"
I played with the Os as yoyos and a lot of rainbow nonsense which you may have seen. Would love to have some human made art if anyone wants help out to use for the logo for the NYYYC regional contest.

I’ve set aside budget and paid artists for stuff like this. Higby does Colorado states regional and mile high yoyo club logo.

Alex curfman is making art for merch for va states.
There are lots of fantastic artists in the community with willingness to make amazing art but most are commission and I think that’s fair
I’m also pretty anti AI art and cringe when I see very obvious AI usage in logos and stuff like that.

Thank you for the reply, This is awesome. I’ll add this here as well. I have reached out to somev in the past and some people offered but thier fees seemed rather high and unnecessary when I’m just making a poster for a yoyo club that I’m frunting money for already… im paying for the NYYYC sponsorship to trying and get exposure the club, but that’s a fee already and they want a logo. The logo will be posted at least 4 times so I’m going that the person that designed the logo will accept that exposure for those yoyo art. I just all that “Lynbrook Yo-Yo Club” be legible.

Some folks barter for stuff like this too. Exposure isn’t worth much but some folks do it for the love of the hobby.

Worst case scenario Fiverr is a lot better than AI! I’ve used it for some stuff before. It let me get in touch with a fantastic illustrator in Indonesia who I’ve hired several times. I like working with folks in the community, and have bartered as well for art.

Some artists who that is their day job make amazing stuff and their actual rate is way way higher than what I’ve paid for art. It’s still “high” for a club logo and it’s hard to compare the cost of a pro Claude subscription 20 a month vs the cost of a person drawing and digitizing art. I get the ROI thoughts
One idea you could consider is quoting some artists prices and asking the club members if they would want to chip in a portion of the cost. I’m doing something like that to get a table banner made for club as we have tabled a bunch of events and my little printed signs aren’t cutting it as well.
Another option that some will be frown on by some but it works is to reach out to brands and see if anyone with a long standing yoyo brand would be interested in a sponsored donation toward the club to put em toward making the logo and promising things like “club brought to you by x brand” on socials and stuff for a year or something else that’s temporary but meaningful to make it transactional and have some for of visibility and recognition.
For me I figured I’m going to run dmv throwers for at least the next 5-10 years maybe much longer and even if we only meet 6 times a year that logo will be valuable hopefully long after I am done running club and pass it to Someone else.
Same went for running va state yoyo contest I didn’t love the old Va states logo nor had access to a high res version as the source was lost over time but the new one is great and will hopefully run with the contest long after I stop running it.
I do make sure all my club artifacts are public and available so they actually outlive my tenure.
I totally get your spot and thoughts on it and for the amount of time spent and that you already put in it probably feels off to put more in for something that is not as impactful in your mind but a clubs brand and identity does matter. It creates recognition and helps people know what you actually are at a glance if done well without even having to read. I wish there where more league level resources to make it easier for local groups but for now reaching into your built community or leveraging it for external funds is the best path.
